On FOX a Karen Pearl from Planned Parenthood was being interviewed about the threat against abortion “rights”:nope: When asked if she really thought it would be illegal if Roe v Wade were overturned she said yes in alot of states. The interviewer asked her if it because some people consider it murder she dodged it and he reeled her back in and asked again, she said,“i don’t think that is what they think,I don’t know what they are thinking”.:nope: He went on to ask her if she felt the founding fathers would have upheld abortion and she started doing the diversion dance and then she said ABORTION IS THE FABRIC OF OUR SOCIETY:eek:   IT IS A BASIC RIGHT:eek:

We had some woman come on the radio here and tell the community that this is an “emergency” for women’s rights. WE all have to unite, demand, marshall forces, etc. etc. etc. (to paraphrase the King of Siam)…an emergency…at first I thought some child had been kidnaped, it turned out she is talking about uniting to force a pro choice for the Supreme Court. I have an Excedrin #3 headache.

The :mad:fabric of society…Gee, I can hear our founding fathers turning in their graves…

PPFA Urges Selection of Fair-Minded Nominees

WASHINGTON, DC — On the heels of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor’s resignation this morning, Planned Parenthood, the nationwide advocate and provider of reproductive health care services is rallying pro-choice activists everywhere and urging President Bush to select nominees who will protect and defend our right to make our own childbearing choices.

President Bush has said he “will select a Supreme Court justice that Americans can be proud of.” In response, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) Interim President Karen Pearl issued this statement:

"The country was proud of Justice O’Connor — a discerning, conscientious, and moderate judge. We will be proud of a similarly fair-minded nominee, who will uphold the law of the land and protect women’s health and safety as O’Connor did. That is the way to adequately replace a justice of Sandra Day O’Connor’s caliber and to make the country proud.

President Bush has said that he will be deliberate and thorough in his duties to nominate a successor to Justice O’Connor. We challenge him to live up to this promise. With the swing vote preserving Roe v. Wade now absent, this is truly an extraordinary moment in our nation’s history. We must ensure that the nation proceeds with caution and care when selecting a new justice to the highest court in the land."

According to PPFA Senior Staff Attorney Eve Gartner, who last year successfully argued PPFA’s case against the federal abortion ban:

“Justice O’Connor has been a crucial vote on the court for protecting women’s reproductive freedom. Most centrally in the 1992 ruling in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Justice O’Connor’s recognition of the grievous harms that women would face if forced to carry unwanted pregnancies to term led the court to reaffirm Roe v. Wade as the law of the land. There is no doubt that her departure creates the very real likelihood that Roe’s promise to women will be severely undermined, if not entirely taken away.”

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the nation’s largest and most trusted voluntary reproductive health organization. We believe that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child — and that every child should be wanted and loved. Planned Parenthood affiliates operate more than 850 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men, and teenagers each year.

Save the Court … Save Women’s Lives!
Contact Your Senators About the Next Supreme Court Justice
Women’s lives are at stake. Tell your Senators to oppose any Supreme Court nominee who would threaten women’s rights and civil liberties.

or limit the civil and human rights of any group of people.
Please contact your Senators immediately and urge them to oppose any nominee who would overturn Roe v. Wadehttp://www.now.org/images/judicial/take-action-blue.gif
With the resignation of Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, George W. Bush will have the opportunity to replace a justice who has often made the difference in the preservation of essential rights. With a fragile 5-to-4 split in the Court on issues like abortion and affirmative action,** we must fight for the appointment of a justice who will uphold and protect our hard-won Constitutional rights.** Urge your Senator to oppose any Supreme Court nominee who would overturn Roe v. Wade and limit the economic and reproductive rights of girls and women in the U.S.

Action Needed:

Please contact your Senators immediately and urge them to oppose any nominee to fill Justice O’Connor’s vacancy who would overturn Roe v. Wade or limit the civil and human rights of any group of people.

After emailing your Senators, please call their local office (it’s more effective than calling the DC office) to request a meeting with them or their chief of staff back home to discuss the importance of appointing a Justice who will uphold and protect all of our hard-won rights. You may not actually get a meeting, or it may be with a staff member, but a lot of requests for meetings will demonstrate the depth of our commitment.

**Background: **

As Texas governor, George W. Bush demonstrated that he doesn’t require legal skills for a judicial nominees. His only requirement was that judges share his anti-abortion, pro-corporation ideology. Many of his nominations to the federal bench seem to have followed the same pattern.

The character and record of anyone nominated to our nation’s highest court must be thoroughly reviewed and considered by the Senate in their important “advice and consent” role. The Senate must be certain the nominee can discern between personal conviction and interpretation of the law as they balance the interpretation of our Constitution and our democracy’s promise to protect and expand the civil liberties of all people, not just the privileged few.

Where would the members of Planned Parenthood be if they exercised thier right in the womb to allow thier parents to kill them? a curious little thought to ponder.
Maybe there should be a group called “Planned Parental suicide” so they could all abort themselves at what ever age they are
Grrrrrr

I also urge selection of fair minded nominees. The slaughter of innocent children is about as far from “fair” as it gets.:banghead:

Today, Justice Sandra Day O’Conner announced her retirement. This will be a defining moment – President Bush has to pick between what mainstream America wants and what the radical right demands. He can make good on his promises to unite the country by reaching out across party lines to find a consensus nominee who’ll respect privacy rights, value women’s freedom, and defend Constitutional traditions. Or he can keep his political promise to pick a Justice who will impose a political agenda on the court’s decisions.

But unfortunately, we recently found this ad in the paper:
