I remember that struggle. It’s actually part of why I got to where I am now. Even after I stopped lifting I was pretty active, and I always had a great metabolism (for staying thin). One day it started to slow down and then bam, I was overweight. I’d basically been overeating consistently for 5 years. I had no idea how not to eat a lot.

30lbs of pure muscle would be crazy! Ground beef was always a friend to me in those years. And peanut butter. And chocolate milk. Ate a lot of all those.

I’m lactose intolerant so I can’t have Whey Protein. It’s a real shame. Meat is so expensive 🙁

Oh that sucks big time.

It really is. I’m doing a keto diet right now so I’m eating a lot of meat. Even buying stuff on sale, it adds up.

Agreed. Many guys I’ve talked to recommended chicken. However, like you said, it adds up. It’s better to eat the lean meats if possible.

Ate a lot of chicken too. I didn’t have to eat as clean as other people because of my metabolism, plus I did high volume training for a long time. I switched later. No one understands what a chore it is to eat until you’re trying to gain 15 or 30 pounds of mass. As they say, the struggle is real.

That’s why some people turn towards (cough) performance enhancing drugs… It’s effective, but everything comes with a price 😐

And that stuff is more expensive than food!

You can pay the price for it for sure. Ronnie Coleman is in rough shape from injuries he had during his career, and the juice is what made it possible for him to move the weight he did. I mean he says he doesn’t regret it but…idk, I guess that’s why I would never be an Olympian. I never wanted to be “The best”, just push whatever God gave me to its max without doing anything stupid.

yeah… the squat max holder at my school was maybe 5’10, but he hit 615 for 1… spotting him, even at smaller weights, was terrifying.

That’s a lot of weight. If you’ve got good genes and you’re training for powerlofting I think a 615 is doable. But that’s with years of work and focus. And you’re probably not going to look great either. A buddy of mine on school was actually shorter than me and he held our squat max at 650, but I’d seem him do more. His legs were the size of my waist. And, he was exceptionally fast.

I saw a guy do 36 squats at 350 like it was nothing. He had some “help”.

yeah, right…

There’s a time and place for steroids.

And that’s when you’ve got pneumonia.
