Exhibitionism is obviously a sexual dysfunction that needs to be corected by counseling and medication. What if the exhibitionist confines his activity to the privacy of his own room, but believes that people can still see him via hidden cameras, etc. He hears the voices of people and not just any people but children. On the one hand, he feels guilt and shame. On the other hand he is indignant that someone would invade his privacy. On the third hand, he feels, perhaps his wife is entitled to revenge, by using others to embarrass and humiliate her husband. What should the man do?

There are two things to be addressed here.
  1. If the exhibitionist believes that, even in his own bedroom, people can see him, then he is still practicing exhibitionism. And if he thinks that children can see him, then he needs to stop.
  2. If he is becoming convinced that his wife is filming him, and that people are invading his privacy and watching him, he needs to tell his therapist, for help in determining the reality of this.
God bless you,

Ruthie
