In Ex 32,31
Code:
So Moses went back to the Lord and said, "Ah, this people has indeed committed a grave sin in making a god of gold for themselves! 32 If you would only forgive their sin! ** If you will not, then strike me out of the book that you have written.
**If this isn’t testing God, then it’s definitley calling His bluff. We as Catholics spend all our Faith energy to get in the book, and even to just get honourable mention. I really don’t think Moses knows what is at stake here, and the privledge he has been given, nor even what he is saying unless God’s standards have changed since.
Code:
Time and time again in Ex, Moses calls God's words to him as a "gotcha", "You found favor with ....", and ties Him to His promise.
Moses intent for the most part is honourable and is motivated by a desire for peace among his people, and I would assume God overlooks these self assured statements for that reason.

Questions and quirks in the Moses saga.

1/ 19 states they are just out of bondage, and 21 starts making laws for those who have slaves?.

2/ In 25 an immense wealth of it’s people becomes apparent and doesn’t let up even until after 32, money flying in all directions. For slaves in bondage on the run carrying only the necessities of life.? MMmmm. Gold is very, very heavy. Egypt’s tax system couldn’t have been that burdensome.
