It is my understanding that there is usually a rite of exorcism included in the sacrament of Baptism (or attached to it). I wonder, those of us who were baptized in non-Catholic churches probably never had this rite of exorcism. Is it possible and/or customary to get that rite sometimes later in life? Or does crossing oneself with holy water and “renewing” of baptismal promisses take care of that? Thank you in advance for any thoughts and answers on this issue.
Also, what about the anointing with oil during baptism? Can that be done later in life, or does the sacrament of Confirmation supply that?

The sacrament of Confirmation supplies it. If you were being baptized as an adult the baptismal anointing would not be done because Confirmation is immediately afterward.

As for the rite of exorcism, it’s a prayer and an anointing with the oil of catechumen. Obviously the anointing wouldn’t be done on someone who’s already been baptized and the prayer applies to the non-Baptized.
Prayer of Exorcism:
Almighty and ever-living God, you sent your only Son into the world to cast out the power of Satan, spirit of evil, to rescue man from the kingdom of darkness, and bring him into the splendor of your kingdom of light. We pray for this child: set him (her) free from original sin, make him (her) a temple of your glory, and send your Holy Spirit to dwell with him (her). We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All of the prayers associated with the Baptismal rite are not essential to the sacrament. If you have been Confirmed and are in communion with Christ’s Church, you are not missing anything. Be thankful that you are home!

Probably depends on your Christian denomination. I know for my own the anointing with oil and at least part of the Catholic Exorcism rite is contained in our own Baptismal rite. My daughter was baptized 2 weeks ago Sunday and as part of her baptism she was anointed with chrism and sealed with the Holy Spirit. 🤷

I think you’ve gotten some great answers to your above question, so I’ll just add, if you’re looking into the rite of exorcism for armor for spiritual warfare, may I suggest the St Benedict medal, as it carries the rite of exorcism (in Latin) upon it.

Here’s a link:

Hope this helps, God bless.
