Sorry, I wasn’t contradicting you, just amplifying. What you said was exactly right.

No need for an apology. It’s an important point and I’m glad for the clarity.

36 seconds till I can like…lol

Next time, instead of assuming something, ask for clarification.

I agree with Tis: We, as good and faithful Catholics; must trust the Church when she makes a a judgment call. There’s a strict protocol that the Church follows in determining whether or not an individual case is in fact a possession. The exorcist consults with mental health experts, helping to determine whether or not the sufferer is indeed suffering from mental disorders; my diocese has three that help the exorcist. I called and checked as part of my research into whether or not I can help the diocesan exorcist after I get my psychology degree. I also have read several books, written by exorcist priests; in which the Church’s practice of exorcism of laid out for lay readers. I trust a priest more than a layman, who may not even be Catholic; on the subject of exorcism.

So, I personally believe that once the Church has made a judgment whether or not someone is possessed; I can trust that the Church has done solid investigation and ruled out everything else before determining that someone is possessed.

Sorry if this is off topic but does anyone remember the recent story of that family where the 9 year old was crawling on the wall backwards?! When I read the details of that story I was surprised it wasn’t more popular because secular people witnessed this including I think the police department. They finally called a Catholic priest I believe who said he had to read the exorcism prayer from google based on another priests recommendation. The details are fuzzy in my memory but for some strange reason whenever I have doubts about faith in some way I think about the reality of that story. The way the mind works right?
You mean this?

Here’s another account of the possessed boy of Indiana:

The first symptom of the child’s possession was a fly infestation in winter:

Yes, thank you for finding it. This is very eerie and of course I’m no expert but this sounds like possession just like the ones that remind me of when Christ walked the earth. I’m thinking, why should they no longer be real. I believe in them, in fact sometimes they put me in check.

Honestly to me there does seem something weird or supernatural perhaps, but the grandmother does seem to have major “issues” and the growling, etc wouldn’t be hard to play-act, I think. The walking up the wall backwards sounds hard to explain, but I would want to read the actual accounts by non-family members before I put too much stock in it.
I think there was probably a variety of things going on. Mental illness, maybe some drug use. Maybe the house had been used as a meth house, and no one had done the clean up. Lots of explanations for a lot of those phenomena:

Maybe lead poisoning – hallucinations are a sign of lead poisoning, and Gary Indiana has had problems with that:

Honestly the only thing that made me believe was the secular accounts of seeing him climbing the wall backwards. There is nothing I can think of, other than the supernatural, that could could cause a little boy to do that.

Well, but it’s the media’s account of it, right? Not the actual transcript?

Here’s something snipped from one of the DCS reports:
“Mom will utilize alternate forms of discipline not directly related to religion and demon possession.” And “Mother and children will not use possession as excuse for children’s behaviors”.

So, if the mom was using “religion and demon possession” in some form as discipline, that to me sounds pretty weird, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the kids were coached in some way, and maybe the kid could do some acrobatic trick wherein he appeared to be walking backwards up a wall. This whole thing has very little credibility to me. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

This is the actual DCS report. What you uploaded is guidelines recommendation on management her children. IEP.

Oh see, this is mostly what the family reported. This “walking backward up the wall” is easier to imagine if the child was holding someone’s hand the whole time!
And surprise! The priest landed a movie deal! No one else thinks this seems bogus? I hope he shares his earnings with these abused children. Or maybe they will have their own competing movie…🤣
And the priest was asked to perform an exorcism straight off the bat - he didn’t know the family first, I don’t see anything about him conducting in-depth psychological inquiries.

Nope - it appears you have not read the accounts the child walking up the wall witnessed by medical staff including a number of psychologist who where in the room - this is clearly documented DCS report. Nor did you read Rev. Michaels report and experiences of the oil like substance returning after being cleaned up and the house sealed for 1/2 an hour.

Here’s Rev. M Rev. Michael’s response to your comment:

The Film Deal with the Producer of the Conjuring

Do you believe your involvement with the public media has been roadblock at all to maintaining humility in this case and not sensationalizing?**

No, I do feel that the revealing of this case in the public light is part of God’s plan. I really feel like His hand is in this one in removing “bushel basket” off the truth of this case. It’s definitely part something bigger than me and if anything I am overwhelmed (laughs). I have a part in that, but it’s God’s doing and not mine. I don’t want to get in the way of that, so I’m willing to do whatever God’s wants to do. There were definitely things that could have stopped it from coming to the light. One thing is that I offered the bishop all my findings and reports to put in the archives of the diocese but he said, “No, you can keep that.” He also never asked me to do a report. Usually those kinds of reports get archived and becomes diocesan property which becomes ecclesiastical property and they can seal that all off as confidential. And I was willing to let that happen. As well if the demon speaks, that usually has to stay in confidentiality, because demons like to lie. But in my case, the demon never spoke.

Can you tell us about the movie deal? Did you have any concerns that the case would sensationalized?

Yes. I was definitely worried that Hollywood would take the story and do what they want with it and that I wouldn’t have any control over it. And then the guy who worked with the Warrens for the last thirty years, starting with the Amityville Horror story, worked with them again to get the most true and accurate story of what happened for the film The Conjuring. He told Hollywood that he wanted to tell the true story and he was running up against all sorts of roadblocks with it. Everyone kept telling him, “you have to do it our way or else no one is going to want to watch it” but he wanted to tell the truth with it. Just like The Conjuring, he wanted to tell the truth again, and said that whoever would take his script and make the film would have to do so on the condition of being 100% true to the script. In other words, whoever makes it has to tell the true story or else the deal with his script will not go through with them. So, the main focus is trying to bring the truth out about it and not necessarily sensationalize it.
