I’ve read many forums on this website but it just doesn’t answer all the confusion for me, or rather the questions I have. I’m a born and raised Catholic in South Africa of Indian origin, my girlfriend is a Hindu (more specifically Tamil). A couple months ago she accompanied a mutual friend and the mutual friends mother - who was and still is possessed - to a guru for an exorcism. She told me that she while the exorcism happened, the door to the temple opened of its own accord and objects fell to the ground. The whole experience was pretty traumatic for her so she said she had to look away a lot of the time while crying but she did see a hairy worm crawl out of the mutual friends navel which the guru then dealt with. That being said, I trust what she told me as being 100% true.
Now we know that in the supernatural realm, there is only the Holy Trinity, angels (which branches into archangels, demons, Lucifer) and human souls… NOTHING ELSE.
I read a passage from the Bible where people questioned Jesus as to how he could exorcise others without being a devil worshipper himself and he stated that the devil would never exorcise his own kind. Hinduism is based on having many deities and we know that it is not our one true God so how can exorcisms in Hinduism or any other religion happen?
I was also told that during the exorcism, the guru was in a state of trance which is when a certain Hindu deity that is already within him is brought out to act out through his body. There different types of trances for example when one is at home doing their prayers, that person will just tremble when in trance and pray over others who are there whilst at a temple they would dance in a frantic manner, scream from time to time, perform fire walking or slughter and drink it’s blood - as with the Kali trance - all depending on which deity has come out.
Can someone please explain these things to me in a Catholic point of view?
