My girly is a generally kind person. Goody-2-shoes. Ever once in a while, I catch her gossiping, telling a dirty joke. Maybe I expect 2 much from people who churchy u no. As much some1 is spiritual, how I learn 2 accept they 2 r human - like they have bad days. There is no excuse 4 sins, but if u get close 2 the kindest of people they are not good 24/7. Does God require us 2 b? It looks worse when a very kind person screws up, but if a bad person does something good it is cherished.

I’m sorry, but your “text talk” is so distracting that I’m not quite sure what you are asking.

You shouldn’t expect much from others, because we all will fail at some point. My experience tells me you will be disappointed.

There are no 99 sheep. All of us are the lost sheep. 🙂 All of us fall short of the person God has created us to be. All of us have to work on improving ourselves and being Christ’s hands on earth.

Our job isn’t to compare ourselves to each other. Our job is to compare ourselves to Christ. And we’ll always be lacking… but we always need to strive. And the closer we get, the further away we’ll realize we are.

really u think all of us are lost?

12 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! 14 In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.
I’m saying there are no 99 sheep that “never wandered away”. Out of the whole world, are you claiming to be the exception? 😉

I do not think so. I get that we were all sinners. Can’t we be real for a moment, and acknowledge some of us are worse than others.

Ok, I really will. Does that provide you with any satisfaction at this time? It even comes with a no money back guarantee…😉

But that gets back to the point-- you’re responsible for you, and you’re responsible for modeling yourself on Christ. Norville’s, Fred’s, and Daphne’s struggles to be good people are between them and God, whether they’re random strangers, friends, or relatives. PelagiathePenit’s struggles to be a good person are between you and God, and no one else-- not your mom, not your sister, not me-- can appreciate them. That’s not to say encourage people in their sins, or cut them off and ignore them, but it means focusing more of your critical eye inward on the one person on earth whose actions you can control. Likewise, that’s also not to say, “Well, it’s not a big deal if I commit x sin, because so-and-so does worse.” God doesn’t grade on a curve. 😉

“My girlfriend’s a goody-two-shoes, but I still catch her telling dirty jokes and gossiping.”

“Maybe I expect too much from people who are churchy.”

“Even the kindest people aren’t good 24/7. Is it worth trying? Does God really expect us to be? When good people do good things, no one cares, but when a bad person does good things, people are really happy.”

Combined with your June thread about your sister not liking your corrections, it’s great that you’re wanting to encourage other people along their paths, but it doesn’t look like you’ve quite developed the finesse and humility and panache that make such lessons more palatable. Sometimes quietly modeling good behavior-- prudence, temperance, fortitude– is the best example there is, so that we’re islands of peace and light when surrounded by storms and sins and darkness.

Our faith, hope, and charity, are virtues we receive at baptism, and they are at a certain point of strength. These virtues were given to us to help us become other Christs, but as these virtues grow we reflect that in our good actions. So there should be a growth into Christ over our life span using these virtues to do this.

So everyone is at a different point in there life in Christ. Which means that until a person is in perfect union with Christ, there will be imperfections and sin in the best of us. So it shouldn’t suprise us when we see someone act out of character now and then during this time on earth.

As far as bad people who seem to have it all in this world, this is scary to me. Because in this condition they are not headed for the right place the way they are living their lives. And so if they do any good, God, being just, is probably rewarding them here and now because there can’t be any reward in the hereafter.

May the Good Shepherd fill you with peace.
