Do you happen to own one - for spiritual protection ?
I have heard some good things about it.
“ Step Back, Satan “ ( Cade retro satana )
Wards off evil - since the fifteen century.
Also poison and temptation.
Thinking about buying one - from Rome
Supposedly blessed by The Pope -

I never heard of this.

But the way I’d look at it is this. If its expensive because its made of a lot of gold or other valuable materials, that’s one thing.

But if its made of relatively inexpensive metals and materials in comparison with the price they are asking, I’d definitely avoid it. Spiritual power isn’t supposed to be for sale.

I have a cheap aluminum version attached to my scapular. One can obtain an indulgence by using medals, but there is no magic to it. The main benefit is that it is a reminder, and pious example to others, and one should say the prayers.

I have a rosary with a st benedicts centre and a St benedicts crucifix I pretty much carry with me everywhere(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Mine is made of an alloy of Platinum and Iridium. The guy who sold it to me said it will last until the end of time and never change.

There is no need to buy an expensive medal. I personally don’t like to buy expensive medals as I may lose the medal. I would rather have a cheap one that I can use and, if it is lost, can easily replace.

It’s nice to have things blessed by the Pope, but not if someone is going to charge exorbitantly for the service of getting it blessed. A blessing by your priest will work just as well; there is one day out of the year you can get an extra indulgence for using a sacramental blessed by “any bishop” which could just be the bishop of your diocese and doesn’t have to be the Bishop of Rome.

St Benedict medals are easy to obtain from either Catholic gift/bookstores and online retailers like Amazon. The blessing for them is different and contains an exorcism. Here is a link with information about the medal and the blessing : http://www.osb.org/gen/medal.html

You could bring a copy to your parish priest and he could take care of blessing it for you easily.

I have also found this link to a group of Benedictine Monks who will mail you out a scapular and medal of St Benedict free of charge. https://benedictinemonks.net/request/

God bless.

You can get one in sterling silver from the Vatican gift shop. It goes for $34 + shipping. The $34 is because it’s sterling silver, not because you have the option of having it blessed by the Pope.

You can get one that’s been gold plated from the Vatican gift shop. It sells for $38 + shipping. It’s $38 because it gold plated, not because you have the option of having it blessed by the Pope.

Ebay has a number of St. Benedict Medals that have been blessed by the Pope. They start off at $10 plus free shipping for a colorful enameled one; it’s easy to find some at $10-$15 + $7 shipping for some basic plain medals; you get some fancier ones once you hit the $20 + $7 shipping price point; you can get a box of 100 St. Benedict Medals blessed by the Pope for $40.

One thing you do want to be careful of when buying things online is to double-check the size. They come in a range of sizes, so you don’t want to think you’re buying something substantial, like a 1-inch medal, and then end up dissatisfied because it’s the size of a dime.

And, you can always go out and buy the medal you like, in person, for about $2… and then go spend $4k on a nice Rome pilgrimage and get your papal blessing in person. 😛

You people - really rock !
The links were fun - not sure what I bought now - lol !
I basically need one - for more protection from demonic forces.
I’ve heard very good things - concerning the medals.

I recently bought this cute book “ The Gift of Saint Benedict “ off eBay.
I swear - the inside inscription - is to my name -

“Easter 2003 - Jonathan, there is much more to Benedict’s rule than this book contains - words for room mates, team members, a family, a way of life. Happy Easter ! Love Dad “

And my dad’s - been passed away for years now…kinda haunting…

My medal should arrive this week too 🙂
