I was just wondering if anyone has ever said a novena and seen positive results. If yes, can you please share. If no, can you please just share your opinion about them.

I remember my dad telling me my grandmother said a novena for him to go back to school and my dad’s exact words were ‘Here is my chance to play God, if I go back to school my mom will still believe’ and he went back to school to not shatter his mom’s faith

OK, I know my dad had a strange sense of humour but that is another story

The last time I said a novena because I was suspecting something unfavourable would happen and the hoping the novena would lead to a positive outcome, something even worse happened than I could have imagined. I hope it was simply a set back for something better but I am still a bit confused and weary about saying another novena. I am wondering if I should even say the some one

So thoughs and comments on novena’s would be appreciated

I did the 72 Rosary Novena (4 mysteries, 9 times - 36 for the petition, 36 in thanksgiving for having received the petition).

I was asking for God to please direct me to do what He made me to do. The answer came after I had finished all 72, “You have to WAIT.” It wasn’t a wispy voice - it was spoken firmly. I think the firmness resulted from my getting flustered that I wasn’t getting much in the way of a response.

My family has experiences too. For example, my sister-in-law prayed a novena for the conversion of her husband (15 years married), and he converted right at the end of her prayer. It was his conversion that actually put me on my own conversion course. So, I can say that novenas seem to have an impact.

My father-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer a few weeks ago - not treatable given his condition and the advanced stage of the cancer. So, a number of us are doing the Divine Mercy Novena to pray for healing - the general kind that includes spiritual, relational, and physical. My wife’s family is a mixture of lukewarm Catholics, some Protestants, and those that are just not practicing. I’m hoping for some large scale spiritual healing - time will tell.

There’s nothing magical about them. Jesus has, through the Saints, asked that we say them. Now, I have no idea about your situation and how things went from bad to worse for you. Perhaps you could say a novena asking for inspiration to understand how the bad things that have happened to you are helping bring you closer to Jesus. If it helped, that would be quite the blessing.

God Bless!

When I was a very young child, my mom used to say Novenas all the time. I don’t know many of the specifics about what she prayed for exactly, but I do remember her always being in the middle of some Novena or other. She says that she’s always had positive results. That doesn’t mean she always got exactly what she asked for; sometimes God answers our prayers differently than we expect Him to. But she always got a positive response. She always got some sense of peace, or greater understanding, or something else that she needed at the time.

As for me, I said a Novena for healing that helped me. I was saying one to St. Joseph asking for housing for my family, but I lost track of how many days I’m on. 😊 So I’m starting it over again, but I’m including my kids in it, and we’re actually checking off days on a calendar. I have no doubt that St. Joseph will help us out. We’ve been struggling for months, living in cramped quarters with my parents, unable to find a home to buy or even an apartment available to rent. I’ll let you know if anything shows up once this Novena is done. 🙂

For the last few months, I’ve been praying a Novena to St Joseph for a couple of specific needs for our family (especially our housing needs). When this was getting no results, I didn’t give up… I just took it as a “not yet”. I was persistent, and I kept praying my novena over and over.

For my last novena, I changed my intention. Instead of praying for any specific need, I just prayed that St Joseph would ask God to show me the path that he wants our family to follow.

On day 9, I found out I was pregnant! 😃

While that is the last thing I expected as an answer to my prayer, I do take it as a sign that we are exactly where God intends for us to be.

And I now I will go back to praying novenas for our housing needs… we’re a family of five (soon to be six), living in a small 2 bedroom home - and we certainly will need more space when this little one comes along!

After my husband and I tried to conceive for nearly a year with no success, we added that to our intentions when we prayed a novena to St. Jude Thaddaeus. On his feast day, I got a positive pregnancy test. We look forward to naming our little one after Saint Jude. 😃

My husband and I said the St. Jude novena for the intentions of me finding a job when things looked very bleak. I ended up getting a job for twice the pay I could have hoped for and I didn’t even have to apply or interview for it. It was an employer from the past who called me out of the blue with my dream job. I started within a couple of days. I was (and am) so grateful. We published my thanksgiving as promised.

I have always been a calm, nice person on the outside, and pretty unhappy on the inside. I had a lot of ideas why, but never could p(name removed by moderator)oint the real reason. I came across the Mary Undoer of Knots novena found at theholyrosary.org. I prayed it for the nine days, and it had great meaning for me. It’s where I first felt Mary really was my mother.

About a month or two later, it was revealed to me through the Holy Spirit leading me that I have family members with some serious, but undiagnosed, mental health issues…Hence, the cause of my unhappiness. I grew up confused why my family was so unloving and why they were not able to show very much caring toward me which made me feel miserable and unloved. Now I know. It wasn’t the answer I expected, but it’s helping me forgive my family and heal. I now have a deep love for my father because I know why he couldn’t be the father I needed, and we have a pretty caring relationship now all things considered. He’s elderly, and it was exactly what I needed before he moves on, by the grace of God, to heaven. It was God’s mercy on me through the intercession of Mary. I’ll pray the novena again sometime.

As pointed out by someone earlier, you may not get the answer you want, but you’ll get the answer you need. (BTW, I’m still waiting on a good Catholic spouse. Those novenas haven’t shown any evidence of a “yes” answer yet, but I haven’t given up hope! 👍)
