“and their talk will eat its way like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have swerved from the truth by HOLDING THAT THE RESURRECTION IS PAST ALREADY.”

place explanation in context of Catholic Amillennialist viewpoint.

While accepting the Christian’s mystical death and resurrection in Christ through baptism, both Hymenaeus and Philetus claimed that baptized Christians are already risen with Christ in this life and thus that there is no future bodily resurrection or eternal glory to come.

It would appear that they denied any future resurrection of the body.

You’re saying they were teaching that a future resurrection of the ‘soul only’ … not a ‘delayed’ bodily one ?
