The best explanation I have ever heard for why good things happen to good or in this case VERY innocent people is from St. Thomas Aquinas and it is not to think of evil as a seperate entity but to think of evil as an absence of good. I hope that that makes a little more sense that evil sometimes happens because some people have had God or any other goodness so far removed from their lives that they know nothing but complete depravity.

Now let’s look at some possible rays of hope here:
  1. These children were in very bad situations either in or out of the home.
  2. These perpertrators were so evil that they not only comitted this grievous sin they broadcasted it on the internet.
  3. You sinned and looked at porn (I am not casting stones - nearly restating facts no one is perfect - you know anything can be forgiven in confession as long as you are repentent)
  4. You accidently clicked on this link, saw the acts, and reported it to the police.
  5. These children will get help.
It seems like at the end of the day with a whole lot of sin and corruption God still found a way to help out. Remember that God often works through people, especially his followers.

Does anyone else here smell a troll? Take another close look at her story. I could be wrong about this, and apologize if I am, but you don’t get to a site like that in one click from an “adult” site. Actually, you don’t get to a site like that at all, since the FBI removes and investigates those immediately. Not to mention the fact that anyone who would be stupid enough to put up a site like that wouldn’t have the knowledge to do it. Her “religious necklace” also raised a flag for me. Also, visiting an adult site because her boyfriend is away and she feels lonely implies that she is in a sexual relationship with her boyfriend. The story is presented in such a way that whoever is writing clearly does not know the Church’s teaching on premarital sex. First her nacklace is “religious”, then it’s “catholic”. She went through “Confirmation, etc.” This was her first post. The story is highly unrealistically dramatic. It’s a bait, folks. Again, sorry if I’m wrong. I’ve been wrong plenty of times before, but this one stinks.

hgh you made a mistake. not that you accidently found porn, but that you slipped and sinned. we all do it. based on what i know if youre sorry and you saw Jesus on the street tomorrow he’d forgive you and tell you not to do it again. so i’d just drop that, seems you have enough to deal with as it is.

remember God didnt hurt those Children, when He was with us He was crazy about kids. people that hurt them will get theirs some day. you may have even helped those children or put some smut peddler out of business by reporting it. God can bring good from anything. im not saying thats why this happened, but just remember it.

God does know all, not only does He know about the website, but He knew it before the world was made. He has a plan, i dont pretend to know the details, but He does and i try to let that be good enough for me.

now how could God allow it to even happen? remember when it happened He was doing the same as when His Son was killed for our sins.

advice for you? pray. it works well.
 
its not what you saw that makes you hate God, its your ego and lust to look at porn and have premarital sex! think of all the people that came back from iraq, vietnam or something and saw firsthand worse **** than you ever will and they believe in God MORE!
 
I think the horrors, disasters, and injustices in the human sphere point to the existence of God, rather than the reverese.

Otherwise, it would all be meaningless, and life would be unbearable.

But we can count on God to provide justice and mercy, heal every wound, dry every tear.

Bad things happen to alot of people, it is up to us to let God use us to make good things happen out of a bad situation. Remember God has already suffered the ultimate abuse so that nothing else can even come close to it. We as mere creatures need to learn how to take the lead from Jesus and say not my will but Yours be done.

No one is saying it will be easy but with God all things are possible. Take from one who has been there.👍 God is all Good and all Great.

Il Cattivo - please do not speak for a whole other population of people because as a veteran I will tell you one thing - no two people handle the same trauma the same way. I find your comment extremely insensitive and judgmental. We have ALL sinned.

I think most of us in this group have missed an OPPORTUNITY. That opportunity is to demonstrate God’s love and forgiveness. Instead we have chastized, criticized, and judged the OP. Why not welcome her back into graces as God has obviously given her a heck of a wake up call.

Who can say? Yes, it has an odd feel to it - maybe the person is looking for ammo to say, “See? Catholics don’t care about abused children!” or something like that - but in the meantime, we have to treat every question as if it were a serious question, and answer to the best of our ability. 🙂
 
I will put this in big bold letters so that the people who prayed for me will notice it is me.

Okay this is Heather and I could reply to all the negative stuff some of you are saying but I don’t have time.

I just wanted to thank whoever prayed for me because tonight I had a major breakthrough. I have a very demanding job and unfortunately also have ADD. When I asked you to pray for me I more than anything hoped I would receive the gift of being able to concentrate.

I changed to a new medication today that is sort of the new miracle ADD drug (Provigil) and for the first time in my entire life I can concentrate really well. At my company only one guy knows all the details about our computer network and if he leaves we are in trouble so I am working like mad to learn it all before he leaves (I think he is going to leave, maybe in a year).

It has been so much pressure that my ADD was just feeling like a curse. But thanks to your prayers I was able to work for three hours non stop at home and thus learn stuff I need to but don’t have time to during the day. Your prayers worked. Better than countless doctors and psychiatrists. Thank you, you have magical powers. From God of course.

Maybe if you could pray that my boyfriend sells his house in Canada and thus can come back to the US (he is a US citizen) that would be good. He is desperate to come back to the good old US.

Know that your prayers work because for the first time I was able to concentrate well. I cannot thank you enough.

I may not read all that you say after this due to pressure to learn stuff at work but thank you so much. 😃

Jon - Of course 95% of posts like this are from trolls. CA gets more troll posts that probably any other website in the world. What is said to the trolls to explain the Catholic faith is just fodder for jokes and putdowns among atheists and protestants.

But, like jmcrae said, a few are legitimate. This might be that one, and there’s no way to know.

So he knows that website exists, he knows those children are being raped, and he let it happen. And yes I reported it so it will be stopped but he still let it happen in the first place. I know a lot about religion and I don’t see how anyone is going to answer this other than to say something vague like God and his ways are mysterious. But as you can imagine after seeing what I just saw I am not going to find any kind of solace in a vague answer like that. I just took of my religious necklace and stopped short of throwing it in the dumpster. Does anyone have anything real to say that will change my mind? I know my life goes a lot better when I am religious but I can’t help but to hate God right now because I think he exists and he is letting this happen.

Don’t think I am just another person who hates God, I am sobbing after what I have seen and its only natural to think God doesn’t care.

Evil exists in this world because of the choices mankind. We have free will to do any evil we wish. Pagans threw children into flaming pits in the worship of their false gods which is a far more noble cause than these pornographers. God only knows how many times he has intervened to prevent you or me from being robbed, raped or killed by a drunk driver at some point during our lives by changing a small detail of the circumstance of the moment.

Pornography is one of the great evils of our time. It takes something beautiful and distorts it into something ugly and addictive. Don’t let anyone discredit you because you looked at porn. The porn habit starts because Satan exploits our natural human curiosity and need for affection, not because you are a bad person. We are all sinners looking for healing. There is only one place we will find it and that is through Jesus and the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. The eternal punishment that awaits these child abusers will be so extremely horrible I shudder to think about it. Jesus expecially loves children. These evil monsters are going to pay severely.

Pray for those children. Maybe God decided that since you chose to look at porn that night instead of doing something beneficial for your soul, he allowed or even made you see that evil website… I remember a similar thing happening to me when I was looking at bad stuff on the internet. As a grown man, it ripped my heart out to see this particular evil I was exposed to!

The only thing that keeps this evil world from consuming you (and me) is God Almighty Himself. Hang in there my friend. It’s this kind of evil that made me decide that it was time for me to purify my mind and take my spiritual condition more seriously. Is your boyfriend concerned about your spirituality? Is he good for your eternal soul? Are you good for his? You’ll find tremendous peace by getting your soul (and your boyfriend’s) back into a state of grace and keeping it there as much as humanly possible. So get thee to your nearest local confessional! 👍
