My children aren’t three yet and when we were at Mass my son pointed at the large Crucifix that is at the back of the church where people sit with their children and said He was asleep.

There is no way that I could explain the Crucifix to him as he is too young but when do you explain it to your children?

I cannot remember myself as a child but then I wasn’t born Catholic.

Thanks.

Depending on how mature your son is you could either let it slide until he is a bit older, or you could calmly explain to him that Jesus is dead. You could turn it into a teaching moment and simply say, “Jesus died so your and I can go to heaven.” My younger sister was four when she first found out about Jesus’ death. She was fascinated with it, and loves discussing it (she is now five). She finds it amazing that Jesus died for her. Because she learned (gently) at a young age about Jesus’ sacrifice, she is growing up with a deep love and reverence for him. Good luck, and God bless you!

Hmm

Jesus was put on the Cross.

After a couple Hours, Jesus took off and went to Heaven.
