Explaining To Daughter Who Is The Holy Spirit?

My daughter asked me about the Holy Spirit. She said her teacher said that the “Holy Spirit” lived in our hearts therefore my daughter was under the assumption that the Holy Spirit was not a “person”. I wasn’t sure how to answer her? :confused: Can someone explain it to me so I can explain it to her? 😊 Thanks

It might seem overly simple at first, but a lot of understanding can come from that diagram.
 
God is everywhere because he is all-powerful and all-knowing.

God the Holy Spirit has a special relationship with us when we get baptized. He is close to us, in our hearts (really in our SOULS), to help us know right and wrong, help us choose right and do good. The Holy Spirit gives us special grace in our souls to be close to God and love him.
 
If she is on the younger end of the spectrum it might help to tell her that the Holy Spirit is like God’s or Jesus’ soul which he shares with us to make our souls stronger.

This kind of answer doesn’t get into the truly complicated nature of the Trinity, but I believe it is the best way for a young child to come to a basic understanding.

The Holy Spirit will be your guide throughout your lifetime. When you need an answer to a difficult question, ask the Holy Spirit. If you’re taking a test or exam, ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember what you studied. I once heard myself giving a very simple answer to a very difficult question when I was teaching CCD. I knew I was speaking, but the words were not mine. My gratitude to the Holy Spirit is beyond just “thanks”. Tell your daughter that the Holy Spirit is God and reliable friend.
 
just tell her the Holy Spirit IS a person, and He lives in out hearts, helping us.
 
My priest says that the Holy Spirit is the love between God the Father and God the Son. If God is love, and we were made to love God (CCC 1), then the Holy Spirit is that love that he has given to us to keep Him united to us and us to Him.
 
At a parish retreat, I once heard an elderly Franciscan priest
say the Holy Spirit was the “glue” that bound the Father & the Son together in love
and in turn binds us to to that love through them. 😃

After that, the mystery made perfect sense to me!! 😉
