An explosion has rocked a British school near the capital of the Gulf state of Qatar, Arabic television and witnesses have said. The blast is reported to have happened during a performance at a theatre, although it is unclear whether this was at the school or nearby.
Qatar-based al-Jazeera TV said there are a number of casualties.
Police have sealed off a residential area five km (three miles) north of Doha, witnesses are quoted as saying.
An unnamed diplomatic source told AFP news agency the explosion occurred in a theatre known as the “Doha Player”.
Al-Jazeera said “dozens of people, mainly foreigners, were attending the play,” AFP reported.
