Do you recieve more blessings if you’re praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed than in front of the Tabernacle or is it the same? Why?

Thank you God :blessyou:

Well, I would have to say that it is the same, because it is Jesus alone both in the tabernacle and in the monstrance. But, being able to see him during Adoration always helps for our own personal devotion to Him. 👍

I can only agree to this wise post.

Do I receive more blessings one way or the other? No, they are the same, whether there is a piece of glass or a piece of metal between me and Jesus.

Mr. Richard White’s statement,
being able to see him during Adoration always helps for our own personal devotion to Him
, is a matter of opinion. I feel closer to our Eucharistic Lord when He is in the tabernacle, not in the monstrance. Sometimes when I go to our adoration chapel I “sneak” out into the main church and spend time there, before the tabernacle, instead of staying in the chapel with the exposed Eucharist. My prayer time there is almost always more fulfilling.

Then what would be the point of exposing Jesus if it’s the same?

I tend to agree with the above posters. However, one really cool thing that mainly happens with Adoration is the blessing during Benediction.

My old university’s Catholic Center recently bought a tabernacle which has swinging “doors” which anybody can open/close to have “Adoration on demand” (my phrasing, not theirs).

Aside from the problems with how proper this practice is, it seems to send the message that praying in front of Jesus in the tabernacle is somehow “less” than praying in front of Him exposed. sigh

For me it’s simply a matter of preference. Most people prefer the exposed Presence in the monstrance. I’m just the oddball in the group. As a PP mentioned, there is the added benefit of Benediction if adoration includes it.

Adoration is a gift for us. For a sinner too be able to see and feel His presence more clearly and more dearly is the purpose. Christ hears our prayers where ever and whenever we pray.

For me, seeing Him exposed brings in a deeper sense of devotion. Like when I was at a Steubenville conference this past weekend, they processed a big monstrance all over the stadium. Participants are allowed to touch it, and at one point I do not know if its coincidence, the priest stops right in front of me. I was kneeling down of course, but it felt like I was seeing Him face to face and all I just feel is His love for me.

So yeah, I prefer seeing Him exposed. But I guess it does not matter on the efficacy of the prayers if He is in the tabernacle or not.
