Express Novena

Can any one tell me how to do this.

“An Express Novena is 9 Memorares in a row”

The ‘Memorare’ is a specific prayer, composed by St Bernard, which goes as follows:

*"Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me." *

So for the Express Novena (which I love and have used in plenty of situations) you simply repeat the prayer nine times in a row, mentioning your intention before each repetition of the prayer.
 
Can I ask why you would want to do this?

I don’t really pray novenas myself, but I understand the concept. You pray for nine days. It makes sense to me that praying for something for an extended time would be a sign of dedication from the person praying.

What is the purpose of praying something nine times in a row? If you have a certain intention in mind, why not just open your heart to God and pray for that intention? Somehow praying a certain prayer repeatedly doesn’t make sense to me.

So no Rosaries or Divine Mercy Chaplets for you then?

Praying for something nine times in a row is ALSO a form of praying for an extended time - for the time it takes to say the prayer NINE times rather than once - and ALSO a sign of the dedication of the prayer.

More importantly, it’s to do with the urgency of the matter. The Express Novena is designed to be used in urgent cases, where one doesn’t have nine days or even nine hours to pray, but wishes to make a novena anyway.
 
🙂 I actually wanted to know what it is and how to do such that i can do it. I did it today morning and felt very very happy.

Thank you for the explanation, Lily. I think that I probably wouldn’t pray an express novena, but I can see why someone else might.
 
I found a brochure at church on this type of Novena, it was written by a group, um … that are not part of our dioese and are very involved in promoting an unapproved vision…anyway…

It look like a nice prayer.

So I did it, last Thursday on my way driving over an hour to our second store located a state away. We’ve been having some problems in our businesses… bad season…no rain…we need to sell some Ag equipment…ya know?

On Friday (the next day) my hubby comes home. I ask “how was your day?”

“Great”, he said, "I sold …(started naming what all) "…total of 6 units in a day! Then, this past Monday, he sold two more huge units!

I almost started a thread on this, because I couldn’t believe it. So, now I"m sharing it with you all.

👍 Thanks be to God for what I would consider my mini miracle!
