My thoughts? That this is the non-catholic thread and this post is inappropriate

Long before we may arrive at a consideration of a given
downstream document, of the CC [in this instance, *Exsurge Domine]
one question, among others, that needs to be addressed -
anterior to any pronouncements made, downstream:
Consider mode of expression.
Does not the theology of the CC express a ‘mechanistic,’
rather than a relational mindset?
Fonts of grace, Treasury of grace, indulgences which may be ‘applied’ -
Mode of expression flows from mindset.
From the Vatican website:
…THE SACRAMENTAL ECONOMY
…dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints."
…Indulgences may be appliedto the living or the dead.
While one may wish to keep the spotlight focused on one document,
a wider scan highlights ‘categories’ of thought - which are most revealing of
the Churches attitude toward God, and the things of God.

Economy, treasury, applied indulgences are seen for what they are,
when one considers a hymn, beloved of Evangelicals - for whom the
gospel really is ‘good news.’

There’s actually a theology expressed, in the hymn Amazing Grace.
Man as ‘wretch’ - totally sunk in sin, born in ontological sin.
Man’s sin 'covered over" by Christ’s passion and death…
whereas the Church asserts that an ontological change takes place, with Baptism.
A change in ‘being’ itself. A true ‘new man.’
Christians will continue to debate these, and other matters of faith.
The Catholic Church got it right, in terms of the Eucharist, the Lutherans got it right,
in terms of grace - and the place that scripture must be accorded, in the life of faith.
The Orthodox got it right, with their profound respect for those realities that remain mystery -
taken aback, as they watched the one, true Church trespass on Godhead,
‘defining’ the order of procession, in the Trinity.
…may they be one, Father, as You and I are one…
Perhaps God allowed the reformation to occur, so that the ‘parts’ -
which would come to state theological reality, as it is,
will one day cohere - forming His true Church…
all pride of place, rancor, and mutual accusation, set aside - through His amazing grace.
I’m grateful to the Catholic church, for having given to me
a sense of the sacred, more by example, than text.

I asked him that repeatedly, I dont think he can ever define it. And I dont know how much his Pope thinks its Catholic, since he called them defective.
