Are there any mentions or references to the 12 apostles in letters, records or documents not associated with the church and not written by church fathers and christians?

Yes. Jimmy Akin did a good analysis of historical evidence, including:
  • Suetonius, writing around A.D. 121
  • Tacitus, writing around A.D. 116
  • Pliny the Younger, writing in A.D. 110 or 111
  • The Emperor Trajan, writing back to Pliny in A.D. 110 or 111
  • And Josephus, writing around A.D. 93 (The inclusion of Josephus in this list is not dependent on the famous Testimonium Flavianum found in his Antiquities 18:3:3)
Now, I wonder if anyone can cite any contemporary references to ANY Roman Emperor that was NOT written by a Roman.
