“…that our sacrifice…” is indeed a poor translation. I find that many traditionalist criticisms of the OF are actually criticisms of the current, very poor (and embarassing) English translation, not the actual Latin text of the OF. I know a number of priests who do say ``my sacrifice and yours` in the OF.

I have no love for, and no disdain for, the EF Roman Mass.

I find the latin symbolism less effective for me in both the OF and the EF, and so I went east.

I don’t mind that it is being made more available. If it brings grace to more people by getting them back to the church, great.

That is not too surprising. Rome’s liturgy, when compared to the “grand and glorious” Eastern Liturgies or the other Western rites filled with symbolic ceremonials (say, the Gallican or the Celtic rite families), comes off as too “plain” or “simple”. In fact, the Roman liturgy only received a majority of its grand ceremonials when it got “fused” with the Gallican rite.

Latin as both language and culture has always been more direct, more succinct, and much more terse in comparison to the elegant rhetoric of Greek. The Latin rite simply follows this general trend.

I am indifferent to both the EF and the OF of the Roman liturgy. What the Latins do with their liturgy is their own business.
