Extremely Discouraged

The devil CONDEMNS us, even when we
are reading Christian material, Jesus CONVICTS
us, so that we will be moved to right what is
wrong in our lives(thru confession, time w/ God,
good works and fasting) Ask God what He is
saying to YOU, not to others. All we need to
DO is Love God and neighbor, now isn’t that
simple?

The way I understand Christianity, faith in Jesus Christ as your lord and savior is the way eternal salvation.

I find it difficult to reconcile this with the Catholic church’s teachings that the Sacraments are necessary for salvation.

Are we to believe that if we die unbaptized or with sins on our hearts that we haven’t confessed that we would go to hell?

That would mean very, very few people on this earth stand a chance of going to heaven since the majority of the world isn’t aware of the supposed requirements for getting in to heaven.
Your thoughts are about 400-500 years old… the Catholic Churches are 2017 years old. Hmmmm. That’s what lead me Home to the Catholic Faith.

And every time this comes up, the person asking is assumed to be a kid, someone immature that can’t wrap their brain around it. So before you ask, I’m an adult…
I personally find being like a child with God can help, but in some ways the most scary part of faith, innocence, not ignorance, excusing a multitude of sins. I have a natural inclination to want to know everything myself, but the more I learn the more impossible that seems. Does knowing all the laws stop us from breaking them?

Instead of focusing on the endless amount of things we’re not supposed to do, try to do some the things we’re asked to do, which can fill our day enough, like being hopeful, loving God and one another, charity, forgiving. After trying to do even half of these, mostly unsuccessfully on my part and with a lot of help from God and family and friends, then maybe a bit of time spent worrying about my own sins and thanking God for having mercy on.me a sinner, is forgiveable.

Dear scrupulousrvrt

Do you have a professional person that can help you with these issues you are posting.
A priest who can help you perhaps? Maybe showing a priest a few of these questions will help the priest or professional to discern the best way to guide you.

We, on the internet here, could cause you a lot more angst with our responses.

Best we can do is pray for you, as for others.

But if I may, you show a wonderful caring concern to not offend or insult Our Lord. I am sure this is a cause of happiness to Our Lord.

Our Lord created us all, everyone. And wants us all, everyone with Him, in Heaven. I find this comforting.

I just read some articles on the ‘Boston Catholic Journal’ website and it absolutely terrified me. Parents that don’t teach the Faith are going to hell along with their children, attachment to sin will end in damnation, total detachment from the World and it’s attractions, total Perfection, etc.
I realize that this is what the Church has always taught, but didn’t know that Truth could be so discouraging for a weak soul like me!
If I use all the info that I gathered from Saints’ Quotes, Private Revelations, and the Perennial teachings of Holy Mother Church… it seems like only 1% of the world’s population is going to make it to Heaven!
It looks complicated, but it’s actually very simple.
