Yes - this is correct and as others have mentioned this is quite biblical and is a protection of both the host and those receiving for St Paul warns against receiving without a proper understanding. The Church rightly supposes that those who are not in full communion with the Church do not have this proper understanding…(or else the would BE Catholic).
Those who did this sinned in doing so…However you did not since you did not know…

Yes - such things can be difficult for children and even for some adults. I’m glad to hear that you have come to a better understanding.
Now to address your OP questions…
I’m sure it has among various non-Catholics…There are so many “flavors” of protestants out there - some quite anti-Catholic - that such things are going to be unavoidable. Can’t say it happened to me though since I was raised Catholic - then left the Church for 35 years before returning…
Maybe the easiest way is to become Catholic…
What prevents you from coming into the Church?
Seriously - I think that you should keep doing what you are doing. Study, learn, visit and participate in Mass (except communion of course) and ask questions. Once you come to understand how biblical, how beautiful, how spiritually rich and diverse the Church is, I’m sure that you will never feel angry or hurt again - - - whether you actually convert or not.

I am extremely sorry but, I can’t become Catholic because I either don’t know about, don’t understand about, or don’t agree with the Catholic Church on many things. But, I will most definently keep on doing what I am doing by doing all that you just said above. Even Catholics are not allowed to consume the Eucharist if they are not in a “state of grace.” I routinely deny myself it when I feel a sin bearing on my soul that needs to be confessed, and yes, I feel completely left out and sad, so much so that I have to fight the temptation to jump into the communion line!
So take heart: it’s not just bout you and other non-Catholics.

I just thought I would chime in here and let you know that the all of the sacraments are in the Bible including the Eucharist being the real flesh and blood of Jesus Christ (John 6 verses 52-71)
Priests being able to absolve sins in confession (John 20 verses 21-23)
Jesus said to the apostles, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
The mass is the representing of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross at Calvary. Jesus told us to do this in remembrance of Him. We offer up Jesus, the Lamb of God to the Father. All the angels and saints come down and are with us at the mass! It is holy and reverent. We are one body of Christ praising, worshiping, thanking Him and praying to Him who has given us the possibility to dwell with Him forever in the new heaven, the holy city.

I meant that the mass is re- entering into sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary. Not representing it. We are really and truly there!

Before I became a Catholic (officially-I was raised partly as a Catholic as my father’s side of my family were all Italian-American Catholics that went back generations and centuries) I was studying to be a Lutheran and at some of my former Lutheran church’s Bible studies that I would routinely attend I tried to explain to them about Catholic theology and ritual, to show why the Catholic Church was wrong and why I was rejecting it. The more I explained the meanings and reasons behind Catholic theology and ritual, the more I found myself agreeing with and believing them!! So I ended up Catholic!! Or, a person will say, “I could never be a Catholic, because XYZ” and then they go on to find out that XYZ is a misconception and/or someone has lied to them. And they “swim the Tiber” and join us in true communion!

How can they be reasons for not joining the Church? If you read up you will find many wonderful things … it has such a long history (2000 years obviously) and everything is done for a reason. There are many books and web pages explaining what is done when and why. If you actually found out about them, you very well might find yourself agreeing with the reasons.

I see that you are entering RCIA. I’m sure you know, but the OP isn’t yet aware, that the whole purpose of RCIA is to teach you that which you don’t yet know and help you understand that which now confuses you.
VikingGirl, perhaps you should check for RCIA at a Catholic parish near you. While most describe it as a “process of becoming Catholic,” in reality it is a class to teach people about our faith. They are not obligated to become Catholic at all.

If a person doesn’t know about and/or doesn’t understand about Catholicism, they can’t automatically become a Catholic because they would be extremely confused, would not feel totally accepted, and etc. A person has to learn about (By going to classes, reading, and etc, like you just said.) and understand Catholicism before they can convert or revert to Catholicism because they find that they agree with, accept the Church, and etc. I will most definently take your advise to heart and do all that you told me!
