Would reading be sinful if it damages your eyes. I mean what’s the catholic teaching on personal care.

P.S. I don’t know how much reading affects one’s eyes.

Why would you think the act of reading is sinful?

If you often have these kinds of concerns about everyday living I’d suggest you mention it to your priest and your parents (if you are a minor).

Huh? We receive an indulgence for scripture reading. The Catholic world is awash in great authors.

Where did this odd idea come from?

My eyes get fuzzy after
reading some times. I mean if reading was actually causing eye damage could that be considered sinful. I am a scrupulous person.

Ignoring the sin question, if you get eye strain while reading, is there anything stopping you from getting corrective lenses?

the question’s really only about the sin part my eyes are pretty much alright. I’m just asking if it were causing natural wear on the eyes would that be sinful?

They have an audio bible online at biblegateway. You can go through the entire gospel of Matthew in around 3hrs. It helped me a lot because I have a reading comprehension issue.
