I have a seventh-day adventist relative that is constantly posting quotes from SDA authors. I would love to have a frequent ‘Catholic’ post of a short apologetic nature- but not sure where I can link up with something like that. (I checked out this website- but most things are longer articles rather than short posts. Any suggestions?

myCatholic.com has a The Saint ot the Day, a quote from a Saint (sometimes, but not alway the saint whose feast day it is) and a paragraph from the CCC. You could also post a sentence or two from an apologetics blog and link to the whole blog post.

www.scripturecatholic.com is another good source for dealing with protestants who only accept something if it comes from the Bible. Catholic Sacred Traditions don’t count for anything to them (despite the fact Sacred Traditions created Sacred Scriptures but you know)

Facebook pages that I like and follow that have some pretty good and concise daily messages are “Born Evangelical, Born Again Catholic”, “Things Jesus Never Said”, and “ShareCatholic” (no space between the words on that one).

Try Bible Christian Society.com, the site has a two minute apologetics section with a common question and a short reply.

This is one I recently posted on facebook:

I had a friend ask me why Catholics have Crucifixes in our churches…don’t we believe Jesus has risen? Why do we keep Him on the cross?

First of all, you would want to check out 1st Corinthians, chapter 1, verse 23. Paul says, “…but we preach Christ crucified…” Why does Paul preach Christ crucified? Doesn’t he know Jesus has been raised from the dead? Of course he does! But, he knows that it is through the power of the crucified Christ on the cross that the bonds of sin and death are broken. As Paul says in verse 24, Christ crucified is the “power of God”.

1 Cor 2:2, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” Again, didn’t Paul know that Jesus had risen from the dead? Of course, he did.

Paul preaches Christ crucified because an empty cross has no power. The cross that bears the beaten, battered, and bloodied body of Jesus Christ, however, that cross is the “power of God”. This is why, we “keep Jesus on the cross,” because we, too, preach Christ crucified. The Crucifix reminds us not only of God’s power, but also His love for us - giving His only begotten Son up for suffering and death.

Also, here in this life we do not share so much in the glory of the Resurrection, as we do in the suffering of Jesus on the cross; after all, we must take up our cross daily if we are to follow Jesus, as it says in Lk 9:23.

And, we must die with Christ in order to live with Him as Romans 6:8 tells us. Where did Christ die? On the cross. The Crucifix serves to remind us of these things.

One other passage to keep in mind is Galatians 3:1, “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?” Did you catch that? Jesus was publicly portrayed, before their “eyes”, as being crucified. Sounds kind of like they may have been looking at a Crucifix, doesn’t it?

I to have been looking for catholic quotes and sayings to put on my fb wall. I see alot of John Hagee and Joyce Meyers as well as other non-catholic post run down my wall everyday. I view some of them, and if I like them I will click on the like botton…but there’s nothing catholic.

Anyway, I found Scott Hahns fb and went to it and just hit “like” and now it appears on my wall everday…love it…oh course no one on my fb hits “like” for it, but that’s ok…I know why, so, what can I do? I’ll just find more catholic sites to pop up daily on my fb wall…and share my faith too…

Hope this helps; )

You might also take from the Ask an Apologist forum where CA Staff apologists respond to questions about the faith.

My cable company recently added a lot of channels. We now have BYU as well as the 7th Day Adventist channel.

I watched the 7th DA channel recently and there was a gentleman on there railing against the Catholic Church as the whore of Babylon.

His credentials?:

He took a theology class at Notre Dame University. In the next breath he talks about auditing the class.

He never took a class as a student for credit; he listened to lectures and uses that as his knowledge that the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon.

The talk is quite long and as I was watching, I thought, ‘Is this really how you want to spend your time? Not preaching the good in your religion but instead railing against the Church founded by Christ?’

There seems to be no station ID where I can write a letter or call and ask questions.
