Everytime I share my Catholic faith on Facebook I am so attacked by Protestants in my family. Should I give up Facebook, defend ( and trust me isolate from my family- including sister and Mother) my Faith or steer clear of evangelism on Facebook? The 3rd I definitely don’t see as an option.

Facebook is fun - and your innocently sharing about - who ‘you’ are.
I’m sure you have a great page.
It’s quite bad when your very own family - decides to attack you -
by the way, Jesus did say, that may happen -
yet, also, people see / read your being attacked - and they do take notice of that too -
Facebook - is your very own personally page - DON’T be bullied.
Wow. Protestants do still protest.
Never letting others alone - in their quiet personal search for Jesus !

Or you could just ignore the attacks. Respond to them on other subjects, but not on this one.

Do they listen to reason?

Could you discuss it via private message or in person, rather than airing dirty laundry in public?

I would say dont do preaching on facebook. Not a good thing to do unless you are convicted to do it say like a person puts out soemthing that you know is wrong and you feel like you need fo correct it.

I think effective evangelization occurs in person to person encounters. Facebook definitely would not meet that definition. I’m not suggesting that you shouldn’t witness your faith on Facebook, by the way. But, if your goal is to bring folks to the faith, I think your efforts may be better placed in a different medium. Regardless, I’m sorry to hear about the reactions you’re getting.

What if she posts a simple photo of The Pope - blessing a baby ?

No one should be hassled for that…

I think the problem with Facebook (And I have an account too) is that you are sharing with people who either already agree with you or who viscously disagree with you. You won’t really reach many people in the middle. It’s the problem with all social media, really. If you continue to share things, that’s perfectly fine of course, but it’s not really that useful.

If steering clear of evangelism is not an option for you. My suggestion is ignore their attacks and when you see them face to face let them know how hurt you feel. Keep the faith. I will say a prayer for you.

FaceBook evangelism?
NO SUCH THING.

Don’t waste your time.
You’re better off praying for the conversion of sinners.

I agree with some of the suggestions here. I’ve given up Facebook completely (deleted my account and everything last year). Previously I used to be very into evangelizing on there…most people didn’t care one way or another, and several found me incredibly annoying. It was humbling for sure and I realized that social media was definitely NOT for me.

Personally I think it’s a good thing to post some Catholic things from time to time on facebook, not with the hopes of doing much evangelization or debating. But I’m pretty sure at least 95% of the people of my facebook friends list have no regular exposure to anything Catholic, so just some quotes here and there from Scripture and the Saints, could have a big effect for such a small thing, just so it’s on peoples’ minds and maybe plant some seeds. If you take care, you can have a big effect with relatively few actions. Them reading a little bit of Catholic wisdom here and there is a whole lot better than nothing at all. I make a post about every couple days, whenever I happen to come across something good in my personal reading; that way it doesn’t become a big distraction from what’s most important, although I admit I might spend too much time sometimes overthinking my posts.

As for their attacks, perhaps it’s an opportunity to show a good example. If you’re able to clearly and respectfully defend the Church’s position, it could quite a bit of good. If they’re really overwhelming you and ganging up on you, then maybe wait til after they throw all their objections at you, then read through them, and instead of responding to everyone individually, respond to them as a whole with a summary clarification of the Church’s teaching, so you don’t get caught in a big web of debates.

Hope something here helps.
Sounds rough! I’ll pray for you and your family.
God bless!
