So…I’m looking at my facebook feed and someone has posted a picture of a guy beating a dog. The caption is something about “Let’s make this go viral so this guy can be identified and punished.” There’s a great deal of moral outrage that anyone could do this to an innocent animal. Many of the comments express the desire to shoot the guy, or beat him to death, etc.

So why not photograph pregnant women going into an abortion clinics and post their pictures so they can be identified? Are they not inflicting unthinkable violence on an innocent animal? Gruesome would perhaps be a better adjective.

Kill animal = bad, kill baby = okay

I posted my comment. And I’m either defriended or blocked or the thread got deleted somehow.

These hypocrites just make my blood boil.

Join the club, we got jackets. Now you know how I feel. Its terrible, I know…

A family member who is “pro-choice” was talking yesterday about our little aquarium. It’s down to one fish, who is quite lonely, but my husband doesn’t want any more fish. He’s kind of waiting for this little fish to die. We’re feeding him and keeping the aquarium clean, but my husband doesn’t want to add any fish to the mix. We were talking about how I couldn’t just kill the little guy, because he is alive. She said to me, “I know. He is a little life form, and all little life forms need to be protected no matter how small they are!”

I wanted to say something SO BAD…but didn’t want to stir up the pot on Thanksgiving so I said a prayer in my heart instead.

I’ll take an XL, please.

😃

Don’t be mad, they have iron stuck in the latch of their moral compasses. It is our job to show them the iron and their job to remove it.

If you show them the iron and they insist it is helping them find north, move on. It isn’t worth the anger. Just pray.

my :twocents:

That is why I do not support environmental charities and causes. There is an evil in radical environmentalism which seeks to elevate animals over humanity. They are subevrting the natural order of humanity being lower than angels but higher than all the rest of creation.

I know exactly how you feel my whole family is Pro-choice but we all share the same religious views. I just don’t get it:shrug:.

Sorry but I can’t stop laughing!
But you’re right prayer is the best thing to do. 🙂

I do when it makes sense and when people are not radical/extreme. Because whenever it’s the case most of them are just plain hypocrites.

I just try to use less, because there are also spiritual and economic gains there, plus the ecological.

BTW, I love that signature. (I needed Google Translate, but…)

But if you think about it, it’s not viewed that way with animals either, in the same circumstance. While people are outraged at the thought of someone beating a dog, etc, they are usually NOT outraged at the thought of a pregnant dog having the fetuses “removed” by the vet, if the animal is found to be pregnant when it is taken in for spaying.

I’m not saying I don’t get your point myself–just that people view it differently.

Outraged…maybe not, but I’ve had people get a real sad/guilty look on their face when I’ve spayed their (usually very early) pregnant dog or cat. If course, they’d turn down an ultrasound before surgery to determine early pregnancy or not.

Just dump facebook. No biggie. I’ve dumped a ton of sites over the years. No reason to let anonymous jerks upset you.

Peace,
Ed

Or, do what I do.
Play some really good FaceBook games in order to ignore the idiots in the News Feed.
A liberal-progressive friend of mine told me that for them, it’s okay to be hypocrite as long as they can shove their views down everyone’s throats. They call their hypocrisy as irony.

Brother Richard and everyone, I invite you to join with some of us, as discussed on another thread, in posting a verse or two (or five!) of Scripture on your FB updates every day from now through Christmas season- and beyond. I just started with John 1 and will proceed with the nativity narratives as we get closer to Christmas. Of course everyone can certainly pick their own passages, coordination is not required (though an intriguing idea).

Let’s use FB to evangelize! Might lose a few “friends,” but there are plenty of Christians on FB who can take their place.

In fact, after I posted a passage from John 6 yesterday, the first “like” on the update was from someone who is a self-described agnostic. Who knows?

I see your point, but I believe that many pregnant women and girls who get an abortion are pressured or forced into it. I work in a crisis pregnancy center, and many women just feel they have no choice. We got a call from a 14 year old, crying, in the abortion clinic where her mother was forcing her to have an abortion – we encouraged her to refuse, but the doctor apparently just ignored her. Few girls of that age can stand up to adults in that situation. And there are so many women whose partners threaten to leave, beat or kill them if they continue with the pregnancy.
So posting their photos wouldn’t be charitable. It’s better to give them other, better choices, and make our society safer for pregnant women.

My thoughts exactly.

You’re allowing them to have power over you by you letting it bother you.

Fact is, most of the human race are hypocrites — some are obvious about it, and some aren’t, some get caught, some don’t get caught; but most people are hypoctites when it suits their needs.

Even the church too.
They tell people to confess and be held accountable for their actions, while they themselves hypocritically try to cover up molestation allegations, and lie and deny it, and pay victims shut-up-and-go-away money, just the same as any politician would do.
They also tell you to get married and have kids, while they themselves go home to their single life without a wife nagging them nor kids screaming waking them up in the middle of the night, all the while getting a good night’s sleep, and then wake up the next day to write a sermon uninterrupted convincing enough to make people want to drop money into the offering basket.

Most people are hypocrites when it suits their needs, if not everyone.
It might not be nice, but it’s the way it is. May as well get used to it.
