Well, WarriorMonk, for my part I hope I haven’t overindulged myself with this “conversation.” From your standpoint [SARCASM] self-denial might be the rampant scourge of our era.[/SARCASM] If anyone troubles to read the entire thread, our series of exchanges could be an object lesson. The e-mail-like format of the message board might indeed be as odious as the instant-message-like, real-time software of Facebook… just slower. At least there’s an edit window after which verbal transactions become permanent here at the Catholic Answers message board. Facebook caters to those who retroactively scrub their own part of a given dialogue that took place, which often leaves readers with half a story.
If your previous post (where you minimize faith in miracles, and infer that TV and Facebook are as essential to human sustenance as eating food) is any indication of your religious interaction on Facebook, then just perhaps the Lord could get by without your “help.”
The platitude “everything in moderation” and the expression “it’s all good” are insidious manifestations of The Dictatorship of Relativism. The loss of the sense of sin - the true scourge of our times - seduces people to live in gray areas, and explain away any bad fallout because (if one searches hard enough) some good can be effected.
With that I’ll exit the “discussion” on this subject.
