Faces of the American Holocaust
Who’s behind the public policies that have led to millions dead from abortion?
*When the killing of human beings becomes a pre-meditated methodical policy – put forward as a public good – massive slaughter results, and can be called a “holocaust.”
History puts a face on leaders who considered mass murder a political “good” – leaders like Adolph Hitler of Germany, Mehmet Talaat of Turkey, Pol Pot of Cambodia, Mao of China and Joseph Stalin of Russia.
But what about American leaders responsible for our own ongoing holocaust: abortion? History has yet to put a face to them, but those who value the sanctity of human life are obligated to ferret them out and hold them responsible. Born as Antonio Villar in 1953 in east Los Angeles, the 58-year-old mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, is one of the most dedicated political operatives for the American Abortion Holocaust in California.
Villaraigosa, a proudly self-described “progressive,” began his political career as a union organizer for United Teachers Los Angeles. His mayoral biography notes he also once served as president of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and as president of the American Federation of Government Employees. He owes much of his political ascendancy to Democrat Henry Waxman of the West Side machine in Beverly Hills.
Villaraigosa rose from Assemblyman to Speaker of the Assembly to Los Angeles City Councilman and then to Mayor of Los Angeles. During his time in the legislature, Villaraigosa received a 100% pro-abortion rating from Planned Parenthood.
He was also the relentless whip who rounded up votes against any pro-life measures, especially annual votes to kill pro-life budget amendments that would have limited virtually unrestricted Medi-Cal funding for abortions for any reason throughout pregnancy for rich and poor women alike, and for minors without parental knowledge or consent.
For the 1999-2000 legislative session, Planned Parenthood scored Villaraigosa 10 out of 10 for what it called his “support of pro-choice legislation designed to protect reproductive freedom and oppose attempts to erode existing reproductive rights.”
Among the legislation cited by Planned Parenthood was a bill limiting abstinence education in public schools and another repealing all sections of California’s penal code making abortion a crime. Villaraigosa successfully fought against budget amendments restricting Medi-Cal abortions, including a measure that would have limited the number of tax-paid abortions a woman could receive per year.
Villaraigosa, said Planned Parenthood, “has been a steadfast supporter of women’s reproductive rights throughout his six-year career in the State Legislature.”
At the grand opening of a new Planned Parenthood clinic in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Boyle Heights in October 2002, Villaraigosa told a cheering audience, "I am a Catholic and I believe that God believes in a woman’s right to choose.”
In 2007, at a star-studded gala in Los Angeles, Villaraigosa was given Planned Parenthood’s “Hero Award” for his role in the defeat of Proposition 85, the Parents’ Right to Know and Child Protection Initiative. Many faithful Catholics had contributed and worked to qualify the parental notification constitutional initiative for the ballot, and many Catholics campaigned to pass it in order to protect minor children from secret abortions and sexual exploitation and abuse.
Planned Parenthood had reason to be grateful. After polls showed widespread support among Latinos for the parental notification measure, Villaraigosa recorded an anti-Prop 85 message, which was used in automated telephone calls to voters and broadcast on Spanish-language radio stations before the November 2006 election.
On July 1, 2005, Cardinal Roger Mahony hosted Villaraigosa’s mayoral inauguration at the newly built Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral. While a group of young pro-life students peacefully protested by wearing shirts that read, “You can’t be a Catholic and pro-abortion,” Cardinal Mahony led the prayer service for Villaraigosa. At the end of the prayer, Mahony embraced Villaraigosa and warmly congratulated him.
During Villaraigosa’s 20-year political career, the American Abortion Holocaust he promotes has killed more than 300,000 unborn babies each year – and more than 67 mothers in California. Tens of millions of California taxpayer dollars’ have been paid to Planned Parenthood and other abortionists to perform 80,000 to 100,000 Medi-Cal abortions per year.
