Not sure if this should go here or not. My Mom passed away last night. I was on my way from Minnesota to Utah and didn’t make it in time. My entire family is still Mormon except me. I’m just still in shock and could use some prayers. We hadn’t had a good relationship for most of my life, but she was still my Mom. Now I’m going to have to go through the preparations and funeral and just dread it. Please pray for me that I can be of service to my sisters and just keep my mouth shut about it all.

Hey, another person from Minnesota. Pleased to meet you. I will pray. I am sorry for your loss.

My sister,
You got it, my prayers this morning are with you. I pray that you will be gracious. You are right, in not wanting to make any issues of faith at this time. Let your spirit of peace and sincerity be a comfort to everyone honoring your mother at this service. And let your Catholic faith guide you in healing your loss.

Grace be with you,
Michael

I pray for you, so sorry about this, your presence will be significant.

I pray also for you and your family to feel peace in your heart and all the perfect graces and miracles for your highest good and love in Jesus name. Amen

Steph I will be praying for you in this time of sorrow.

You will be in my prayers, and so will your family. I’ll be praying for your mom, too. Be the face of love for the rest of your family, and honor your mother as much as you can. Other than receiving communion in her funeral service, you should be able to participate in most things your family does to mourn her. (I’ve never been to a Mormon funeral, so take that with a grain of salt.) Listen, love, tell stories of your childhood, and cherish all that she was able to offer you. Reconcile with her spiritually and emotionally. Apologize to her for any offenses that you commited against her. When you get back home, ask your church to have a mass (or masses) said for her soul. Offering a mass for someone is one of the most powerful acts of love we as humans can do. It could be that your prayers, sacrifices, and masses could help your mother draw closer to heaven if she is in a state of purgation. May God watch over her with love, and shower His mercy on her and all of His children.

Lord, please help Steph carry this burden, and enlighten all her family and all involved with grace and angelic comfort. May all be drawn close to your Sacred Heart with joy now and forever. Our Lady, pray with us. Amen.

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you draw some strength and courage in knowing that there is a phalanx of people praying for you and your family. In my own experience, there seems to be a sense of shock/ adrenaline that carries us through these days- and it is a blessing. It will be ok.

That said, I like God is Merciful’s counsel:)

Prayers for you!

Praying for you… May you have strength in this difficult time!! I know you are dreading the things you will have to do, but I firmly believe that if you trust in God you will have all that you need. Many blessings to you, and my deepest prayers go out to you.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. I will post more later on. Your prayers are keeping me going right now being the black sheep.
Steph

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother. It’s hard.

You might find comfort in having a Mass offered for your mother once you return home.

I’m headed to the sanity of Mass this morning. I am so grateful. The craziness all around me is horrid. Glad I have a sanctuary!!

:gopray:

My sympathy on the loss of your mother. Funerals are special times, and they’re usually filled with lots of emotions. Prayers for you and your whole family.

My deepest sympathies in the loss of your Mother. I’m about to go to mass - I will remember you, and your family in my prayers.

:console:

Thank you all for the prayers. They buoyed me up. It was incredibly difficult being the only Catholic there, but I made it through. I cannot tell you how much it helped knowing you were all praying for me!
