I did not go to Mass today. I went on Friday, and did Adoration Friday night. Will that suffice? Are there valid reasons for missing Mass besides illness and travel?

I know that there are valid reasons to miss mass for illness/care of an infant, but I know that travel is not one of the them. Where ever you travel, most likely there is a catholic church around…you just need to look first. From what I understand, going to frequent Mass is a good thing, but going to Mass on Sunday is the day of obligation. So no, your attendance to mass on Friday doesn’t suffice for Sunday Mass you missed. If I am incorrect, please feel free to correct me…I didn’t have time to reference the CC before posting.

Actually, I just looked it up and it seems you are correct. I can’t imagine that my personal ‘mitigating circumstance’ was actually valid, though it felt like it at the time. Off to Confession with me on Tuesday, I suppose.

Well, St. Louis is a big city. Rather than wait for Tuesday, I am pretty sure there are parishes that offer a Sunday evening Mass. It’s only 3:00pm now.
