I haven’t been praying much and dropped my Rosary! I’m disappointed but I’m gonna start again. What tips do you have to avoid forgetting and wasting precious time for prayer? What are some of the tricks Satan has used to divert you from your prayer life? I appreciate the blessing that there is a God who loves me unconditionally even when I don’t love myself AND who wants to have a personal relationship with me but I’ve failed to make use of this. Thank you

What are some of the tricks Satan had used to divert you from your prayer life?

In my experience Satan’s most effective and persistent trick is “I’ll do it later”. That’s why I love the liturgy of the hours. There’s no excuse to wait because it can’t be done at any time. Also if I do mess up it’s only like 3 hours before I can get back on track.

What tips do you have to avoid forgetting and wasting precious time for prayer?

Set alarms on your phone. Pray time specific prayers like the Angelus. Also, for the rosary, start by saying one decade a day. Keep this up until you’re used to it, then say two, and so on and so forth.

I prayed the Rosary pretty consistently for at least a month but unfortunately I fell away. Good night

Make a “calendar” for your prayer life. I decide what mysteries and for what petition I will pray for. One example is that I pray the Mysteries of Light for the Poor Souls in Purgatory. I might do a traditional 54 day Rosary Novena for religious vocations to the Dominican Sisters of Bethany. I do the same for the LOTH, Divine Mercy etc.

Start the day by saying “Good morning Father, Son and Holy Sprit. Thank you for letting me sleep during the night. Please be with me during the day in all that I do.” when you wake up.

I try to bear in mind that the enemy picks off stragglers, so I try to stay as close as possible to the Almighty through regular prayer. Also I really like the company!
