What next, being afraid of Clifford the Big Red Dog?
With some of the obscure questions raised on these forums? Probably Clifford, Winnie the Pooh, because he doesn’t wear pants, and just about anything else that someone can conjure up an unnecessary view on.

Honestly, the things that come up on these forums, are, at times, enough to have me stop reading them. A large majority of the posters scare me to death, and remind me of nothing more than the Salem with hunters, and book burners of days gone past.

From what I know, stuff like Harry Potter, and Twilight which encourages witchcraft, and wizardry, and involvement with the occult are sinful. But children’s books that are about fairies, and knights slaying dragons and stuff of that caliber aren’t sinful. So in the end I have to say **no **it isn’t sinful.
This is not true.

Books like the Harry Potter series, which can legitimately be said NOT to be encouraging witchcraft, are perfectly acceptable assuming that proper context is given and that people reading them are not prone to being misguided (i.e., mature teens, adults).

There have been NUMEROUS questions about this topic posed in the fora here as well as in the AAA forum – search it, please, before you tell people such things.

The same goes for books of a fantastical nature, containing elves and fairies and such like. the Lord of the Rings trilogy is a great example (as is Potter) of literature that promotes a very Christian worldview using a fantastical setting as a device to drive the plot. They are not books ENCOURAGING people to dabble in “magic”.

Peace,
Dante

A large majority? Do you have young children?
