Since I am a mandolin player, this is my favorite Dali:
“Portrait of Juan de Pareja Fixing a String on His Mandolin.” It is not just the title. It just resonates with me. I also love the story of Juan de Pareja. He was a slave, taken in by the great Spanish painter Diego Velázquez. Velázquez freed him and made him his assistant. He went on to become a renowned painter in his own right.
