Faith having many aspects or parts

I have carefully studied the Holy Bible.

I got the feeling, impression and thoughts that faith has many parts or aspects.

I believe from my reading of the Bible that faith includes actions or doings or works.

Also, faith includes obedience.

Faith includes the works of mercy, as far as I can discern.

Faith needs love to work, Gala 5: 6.

I am hoping that some of you great people will be able document these ideas.

I am hoping for passages that clear say faith does works, obeys, and works with love or charity. That faith needs charity.

Paul clearly states in 1 Cor 13:1-13 that Love is above all and the root of all. Without Love we are nothing…of the three great virtues, the greatest is not faith…but Love.
Jesus tells us in Mt 22:36-40 that Love underpins all of the Law and the Prophets.
1 John 4:7-8 tells us that God IS Love…

So Faith itself needs to be grounded in and work from and through Love…
Works likewise must stem from Love for God and fellow man.
Obedience naturally follows Love…Not the obedience of master/servant…But the obedience of who so loves the other that they would never willingly choose to disappoint.

Love is Core…

Several Thoughts on Faith:
First defining it is very difficult and I have been striving to do so for years.
When the disciple asked Jesus to increase their faith (Luke 17:5), He did not say if you have faith as a grain of dust, but as a mustard seed, so first faith is something that can grow, develop and bear fruit. (It can also wither and die). Before one can cast a mulberry tree into the sea, a tree with big roots right on the surface of the ground, it must grow. Second, the two stories that follow the request to Jesus I believe illustrate how to grow in faith. In the first, the servant comes in from the field and does not get to eat, but rather must first wait on his master, this to me says you must do more than is required to grow in faith. The second about 10 lepers only one of whom returns to give thanks, a second way to grow in faith is to be grateful.
Some time ago, a deacon said at a talk to my parish that the opposite of faith is indifference. I immediately thought not doubt or fear? But I think there is a little of all three of these, but if one is actively acting toward God, not being indifferent but striving to please Him then you are acting in Faith.

1 Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith as precious as our own, given through the saving justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of our Lord. 3 By his divine power, he has lavished on us all the things we need for life and for true devotion, through the knowledge of him who has called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these, the greatest and priceless promises have been lavished on us, that through them you should share the divine nature and escape the corruption rife in the world through disordered passion. 5 With this in view, do your utmost to support your faith with goodness, goodness with understanding, 6 understanding with self-control, self-control with perseverance, perseverance with devotion, 7 devotion with kindness to the brothers, and kindness to the brothers with love. 8 The possession and growth of these qualities will prevent your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ from being ineffectual or unproductive. 9 But without them, a person is blind or short-sighted, forgetting how the sins of the past were washed away. 10 Instead of this, brothers, never allow your choice or calling to waver; then there will be no danger of your stumbling, 11 for in this way you will be given the generous gift of entry to the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. …actually it may be short for Galatians; I usually use Gal.

I apologize for the scrivener’s mistake on Gala. I meant to write Gal. 5: 6.

Faith, hope, and charity are the three theological virtues.
Theological means Theo = God, logical = thought, or thinking/centering on God.

Faith is the virtue by which we know God, and recognizing God in neighbor.
Charity is the virtue by which we love God, including God in our neighbor.
Hope is the virtue by which we hope and trust in God.
We are given these at the time of Baptism.

We can seperate them in our study to see what they mean.
But in everyday practical life they seem to overlap one another.
And each is the same strength as the other, even tho it may seem otherwise.

Just a few thoughts.
