Praise & thank the good Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Although my husband & daughter are sick, the good Lord still allows me to help friends/people who are also sick. If my husband & daughter has no appointment (visit hospitals/doctors/therapist) I go out and visitpeople who have requested to be prayed over. On weekend I cooked & bring food to the sick friends, neighbors & to our Intercessory Ministry. The Lord Jesus also allows me to attend mass everymorning & attend intercessory meeting every Monday & Prayer Meeting every Friday.

Please keep praying for the healing of my husband & daughter.

Well, I wouldn’t say that faith without action is nothing. That is a blanket statement. I think of those with profound faith, but for one reason or another can not commit to a physical action, but do dedicate their prayers or sufferings for the good of others or the church in some “inaction” way. It is great when faith can be demonstrated, but it is also judgmental to declare that faith without action is nothing. We don’t know the whys of anyone that does not seem to meet our expectations of what faith is. Peace and prayers.

Exactly. Prayer out of charity also has its merit. For example, when we pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, we demonstrate the highest form of charity known to man, for we are praying for people we don’t know and have never even heard of by name.

But wise admonishment. We are not to judge someone’s state of soul or the merit or non-merit of their faith; that belongs to God alone.

the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (gozarnina’s husband & daughter). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into gozarnina’s husband & daughter’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

I don’t think she is judging anyone. And someone being disabled doesn’t mean they do nothing. You pray for others don’t you? That is what the saints in heaven do is it not? If it was worth nothing then why do they do it?

I am reminded of the parable with Martha and Mary. While Martha busied herself with all the supper preparations Martha sat and listened at the feet of Jesus. Athough we might sympathize with Martha having to do all the supper preparations herself what does Jesus say? Jesus said that only one thing was required and that Mary had chosen the better part. What is that one thing that is required? I think it an intimate and loving relationship with Jesus, with God. Jesus said if you love him you will obey his commands. But he won’t command us to do what we cannot. We can love God and our neighbour even from a sick bed.

Faith is a servant of love. 1 Corinthians 13 says that out of faith, hope and love only love will remain. Thus faith is a means to an end and not and end in itself.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

I also would like to thank who responded on my title Faith without action is nothing (dead). Our good LORD understand every situation and our hearts as you have mentioned donot condem or judge if you cannot act due to some reasons. Our Lord is Love and we His people should not judge also. Just sharing this quotation from James 2:14 onwards…

Yes, I don’t think you were judging anyone. I think you were probably feeling vitalized from all these things you listed that you do and was comparing that to maybe how you felt when you weren’t doing them. That you get life from them. That maybe why you said faith without works is without life.

However, I do see how someone could take what you said the wrong way. They might see for instance you boasting about all these works you are doing while at the same time condemning your husband and daughter for not doing them because they are sick. I don’t believe for a moment this is what you meant to say or convey. I don’t think you would be condemning your own daughter and husband for being sick. You just want prayers for their recovery. And at the same time recognized how doing these things has helped your faith.

One of the reasons why I do the praying is because physically I can’t do anything else … I am very limited … I’ve been ill for 30 years … the first 15 I could work … then it got to the point where I couldn’t … lately I can’t do much besides sit on this couch and go on the computer … it hurts … to have time on my hands and not be able to give back to others … it’s a painful situation … the Lord knows how it hurts me to be in this position … I so want to do so much for others, and I can’t.

I can understand. I also suffer with chronic pain for over ten years that limits me somewhat, more or less on how bad it can be. I have missed work because of it and have worked while experiencing it. Although, I can still work right now, I know something of what you are going through. Perhaps, we are the ones who because of this suffering that many others do not have to endure, can develop more fully the qualities of compassion and empathy for others who also suffer. Having empathy is a good thing because it can lead us more fully into compassion which is to actually do something for that other suffering person, not just to feel pity for them. By Praying for others in need you are expressing compassion for them. To give someone who is hungry something to eat is also compassion. If one has the means and ability to help them and they choose to not that is dead faith. But, if you do not have the ability or the means to help then that is not a dead faith. And you can still pray for them. Prayer, in many situations, is all that we can do. Imagine if no one prayed for anyone else. That would be a devastating world.

Remember, you are the beloved daughter of God.

I pray daily for others and I offer my suffering for the souls in purgatory … I am not complaining … the Good Lord has seen fit to give me a cross to carry … I feel that my cross is a gift from Him and I carry it willingly and with appreciation. I am sorry to hear of your health issues … I will keep you in my prayers. I’m sorry that the title of this thread forced me to say something … I don’t want to judge anyone else for what they say … but it hurt.

Yes, we have to be careful of what we say to others because they can take it the wrong way.

Remember, God loves you more than you can imagine and has not abandoned you.

You are the beloved daughter of God. God loves you unconditionally. You can not do anything to make him love you more or less.
