Hello All,

Can anyone recommend an affordable Catholic family vacation. With the economy the way it is, I can’t afford to take my family too far. I’m looking for something that can be driven within a day or two of Pittsburgh, PA.

The Apostolate for Family Consercration, also known as Catholic Familyland, in Bloomingdale Ohio!
It’s not cheap, but oh, is it worth it!

How about a Eucharistic Pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament… and EWTN. This would be in Irondale (EWTN facilities/programming) and Hanceville (Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament; Our Lady of the Angels Monastery), Alabama. I hope to go, one day… myself. I hear that the staff at EWTN is extremely helpful, in finding lodgings… etc. Here is the link. God bless…

I always have to put in a plug for my hometown of St. Louis. A little more than a day’s drive from Pittsburgh.

In terms of Catholic things to see and do, the Catherdral Basilica has a beautiful collection of mosaics and offers tours after the last weekend Mass:

You could also visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Snows in Belleville, Illinois just east of St. Louis:

St. Louis has other family-friendly attarctions including the Science Center and Zoo (which are both free) and the City Museum and Magic House (which both charge an entrance fee)
