I was reading about this tonight and curious if anyone knows more about this or heard of anyone that has ever led an expedition to this area? Ive never heard of this story, and not sure Im posting it on the right board here, if so, you are welcome to move it where ever it should go.

Im curious what someone would find here if they went looking? But I imagine if Gods archangel did the binding of this fallen angel, I highly doubt a mortal man could even get close to it, (or would be good for their health to do so)!!!

The only thing I know is what is plainly written in the O.T which states in about two sentences something about angels coming to earth, having relations with human women and a race of “giants and heroes of old” resulting from this. Unless I missed something, the bible doesn’t say anything about God’s punishment to these angels–if there was one–or if the angels had human bodies–though one would think they would have to have had if they really did have relations with women. It also didn’t mention in the bible anyway, that the big flood killed them off–again, unless I missed something–which is always a possibility! Frankly, I’ve always wondered about that little statement in the bible too. Infact, it bugged me enough that I once asked a priest for clarification but got a round-about answer that basically amounted to “Who knows?” I’ll follow this thread and be interested to discover if some smart person out there has a legitimate answer!

Well in view of the OT reference being a little ‘obscure’ and rather ancient, I just wonder if the story isn’t an ‘adaption’/crossover that has its origins in memories and tales from a time when homo sapiens AND homo neanderthalensis co-existed and according to many DNA scientists had carnal relations from time-to-time. I also wonder if the Rephaim and/or the Nephilim mentioned in the OT/Torah were in reality legendry people who sprang from tales that hark back to the Neanderthals?

I noted that this link is full of Masonic, theosophist, gnostic claptrap. I’d put no more stock in this than I would in the writings of L. Ron Hubbard. Best to avoid this kind of stuff.

It is an obscure passage, but we can be sure of this: Angels are pure spirits and cannot father children.

There have been other discussions on this forum about that topic.

All I had to see is the author calls himself “John of the Gentiles” (a sign of arrogance) and the Book of Revelations (a sign of ignorance.) Then I knew what came out of his pen was complete rubbish.

Leviticus 16:8-26 **
and Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for Aza’zel. 16:9 And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer it as a sin offering; 16:10 but the goat on which the lot fell for Aza’zel shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to
Aza’zel**… 16:25 And the fat of the sin offering he shall burn upon the altar. 16:26 And he who lets the goat go to **Aza’zel **shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp.

I asked the head priest of a very large local parish here in KY about the giants and the fallen angels once and he told me this was an attempt of Satan at corrupting mankinds ‘seed’, so Jesus could not be born, the fallen angels do not have psychical bodies, they TOOK on psychical bodies in order to impregnate mortal females with their seed, so they created a sort of hybrid. Of course God solved this with the flood, killing them all, but I thought it was strange the verse says they were here before and AFTER the flood, so if gods intention was to kill them all off, why would he allow any of them to survive? anyway, this priest went on to say, back then Satan tried to corrupt mankind with more direct, in your face methods, giants, which people could see with their own eyes and knew they were bad news, but today, Satan, while still wanting to do the same thing(corrupting mankinds seed), he has changed his methods, and does not use such direct ways anymore, he compared this today with scientists trying to clone humans, genetic experiments, combining humans and animals, etc. and most people think its just experiments of science and progress, however it is still just another attempt of Satan to corrupt mankind.

This made perfect sense to me once the priest explained it to me, hopefully this clears things up for you as well.

At least they can’t with our current human understanding.
The fallen angels did commit some great sin that god took great exception to–we just don’t know what it was. We probably will never know in this life either—

The Church teaching:

THE FALL OF THE ANGELS

CCC 391 Behind the disobedient choice of our first parents lurks a seductive voice, opposed to God, which makes them fall into death out of envy. Scripture and the Church’s Tradition see in this being a fallen angel, called “Satan” or the “devil”. The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: “The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing.”

CCC 392 Scripture speaks of a sin of these angels. This “fall” consists in the free choice of these created spirits, who radically and irrevocably rejected God and his reign. We find a reflection of that rebellion in the tempter’s words to our first parents: “You will be like God.” The devil “has sinned from the beginning”; he is “a liar and the father of lies”.

CCC 393 It is the irrevocable character of their choice, and not a defect in the infinite divine mercy, that makes the angels’ sin unforgivable. “There is no repentance for the angels after their fall, just as there is no repentance for men after death.”

CCC 394 Scripture witnesses to the disastrous influence of the one Jesus calls “a murderer from the beginning”, who would even try to divert Jesus from the mission received from his Father. “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” In its consequences the gravest of these works was the mendacious seduction that led man to disobey God.

CCC 395 The power of Satan is, nonetheless, not infinite. He is only a creature, powerful from the fact that he is pure spirit, but still a creature. He cannot prevent the building up of God’s reign. Although Satan may act in the world out of hatred for God and his kingdom in Christ Jesus, and although his action may cause grave injuries - of a spiritual nature and, indirectly, even of a physical nature- to each man and to society, the action is permitted by divine providence which with strength and gentleness guides human and cosmic history. It is a great mystery that providence should permit diabolical activity, but “we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him.”

Well, in this particular case, the fallen angels did father children, but I think its more the persons body they took over at the time, it was probably his actual seed, but with a little bit of demonic matter, or they would not have turned out to be evil giants.

I think the great sin, was Satan wanting the same power as God, Satan wanted all God had, he wanted to be worshipped, Im still a bit confused on how this even happened, because I was under the impression Gods angels were not capable of this type of thing, plus they are not supposed to have free will either, it is strange enough this happened with Satan, but then he was also able to convince 1/3 of Gods angels to follow him, this is probably the strangest part, How did Satan manage to convince this many angels to commit the ultimate betrayal of God?

Whats crazy to me, is the church not even talking about these things. I am interested in this type of thing because in my opinion it is a chance to learn more about how things are/ were. There have been some pretty crazy things happen on this earth and involving God, Satan, and the angels, it is extremely interesting to find out as much as I can about these things.

It just proves there is MUCH MUCH more to Gods creation then we can imagine or is popular topics in churches across the country. Have you ever asked yourself why some of these things are never discussed during mass, and the subject even avoided, yet they talk at great length about other parts of the bible?

Because the Church is not in the business of nonsense. The Church is in the business of Truth.

this is where you have gone wrong-- there is no truth to any of this.

Don’t go chasing after fancy tales when you have the Truth right in front of you.

No, because they are nonsense.

I think only this:
Anytime you read a passage in the bible that says something like the one in the O.T that specifically refers to angels begetting human children with human women and that these offspring became “the giants and heroes of old”–a direct quote–that any person with average curiosity and intelligence would wonder"Hey, what’s that all about?" I wondered aloud in an e-mail to my pastor–and he had no real answer. If someone else–or even better a priest–has a reasonable answer to what the bible was saying, I’d really like to hear it! REALLY, REALLY!!

I don’t know the answer–any more than I know if the lady in Cleveland, Ohio who purports to have visions and messages from Our Lady on a daily basis is legitimate. I am always interested in any theological argument that would debunk the idea of bad angels having offspring with humans–I mean, the thought of such a thing is just ghastly! Having said that, some pretty ghastly things do occur in this world–and sadly, human beings are usually involved in most of the more ghastly ones!🤷

You can read on one of my previous posts in this thread regarding what the head priest of our local parish told me about the giants back then, basically it was an attempt of Satan to corrupt the human seed, so Jesus could not be born. His name is James Ryan, from St Henry, Erlanger, KY, he has been a priest for close to 48 years. He also has a PHD in theology, a very very smart guy, so I trust him on this topic.

It’s his own personal conjecture and opinion (if that’s what he really said).

It’s easy to focus on fantasy, conspiracy theories and pseudo-history because we become more “in control” as we gain “knowledge.” However, Catholicism is about living in the now. Catholicism is about reality.

well the ancient jews did offer scapegoats to azazel on the day of atonement so maybe he is bound here on earth remember the book of Job states that the devil answered God with I was walking to and fro on the earth and he is called the prince of this world a roaring lion roaming about devouring souls so in my opinion yes the devil and his fallen angels do inhabit the earth in spiritual form to possess and oppress and tempt the faithful look our lord himself cast demons out of many people and he says we as believers have the autority to do the same in His name so there must be fallen ones bound to earth right?🤷
