Fallen Angels attacking us

When we’re attacked by Satan and “demons” it’s not truly a horned beast and little monsters with teeth. It’s simply powerful even beautiful fallen angelic beings, right? That want us to fall.

Everyone just always seems to make these attacks seem like fantasy, :goat-devils, beast-dragons, imp like creatures etc.

No-one who seriously believes in the devil or demons believes that they are anything other than genuinely attractive and seductive creatures. Not a horn or tail in sight, I’d imagine. And ‘the most cunning’, as Genesis says, to boot. Witness Adam and Eve.

That’s what makes 'em so successful - and too powerful for mortals to deal with on their own. Resistance is only possible with the aid of the heavenly powers who should be called on in times of temptation.

The only people who portray the devil as physically ugly are those who don’t really believe he exists.

Angels are mysterious, SO mysterious, I’ve been reading alot about them lately, SO many different cultures have reports about them, just like the flood, dragons, a man and woman plus a serpent, it’s interesting, their sightings.

Above all, I think either Uriel or Azriel are the most frightening, even though they’re on our side.

I wouldn’t be too curious though…you might get your questions definitely answered----a little ignorance is bliss…?
I mean if they would or could zap us, it might be better not to know.

Should you have complete hatred for them??? I don’t know if there is a hard and fast rule about that—maybe you are so naturally compassionate, that it is hard for you to fathom totally hating anything or anyone. In that case, I look up to you— and *pray *for me.

No need to bother with sympathy. God is a loving God, but He has sentenced Satan and his minions to eternal damnation. They have renounced God’s rule. And they want to drag us into the fire. They hate us. They don’t want us to join them, they want us to sucumb to them. They hate us because God loves us and has a place for those of us who seek Him.

I watched Fr Groeshel’s show Sunday. Scott Hahn was on it, and he explained that the Mysteries of Faith were supernatural in nature. Human reasoning, whether it be historical or scientific, is not designed to verify or disprove the supernatural.

We can only know what God has revealed to us. He warned Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Satan tempted Eve right away. Eat it, and you will be Like God !

Well, that is what got Satan in trouble in the first place. He wanted to be like God. We are not angels, we are God’s creatures. We are not supernatural beings, so the only way Satan can attack us is through manipulation. Satan wants us to embrace sin and stop us from having what he can’t have. A place in Heaven.

Sympathy for the devil is simply not an option we should select.

Who better to practice this rule of your faith on than on the supreme Adversary? Even Jesus was not hateful toward Satan.

The two angels you mention by name are not listed in scripture or Catholic writing. THey seem to pop up quite a bit in Neo paganism though…

Christ was undoubtedly speaking of human enemies.

Humans have a nature that can be changed, by grace, by our love as an example, by prayer, by more information.

Fallen angels’ nature was “fixed” at the time of their fall. They knew all love, had all grace (intimate knowledge of God), and had access to all knowledge. And they chose poorly. They cannot be changed.

To love them is to love what God is not, which is a sin.

Your deity showed the devil forbearance and courtesy, even though Satan would not accept mercy. Are you going to follow Jesus or not? Do you think he called upon you to hate the devil or those in hell?

From what I read (can’t recall what book–I read many) Lucifer fell because of PRIDE.

In Heaven God shared all of his future creation with all the entities in Heaven. God introduced His Son as the Second Person in the Trinity as a man. All of Heaven was prompted to worship the Son/Man…except Lucifer and his followers. They refused because as angels they felt superior to man and refused.

It’s a little murky but it was something on that vein.

The devil is the image and likeness of “NOT” God - the un-God if you prefer. God is infinitely beautiful, infinitely just, infinitely loving. The devil embodies the exact opposites as his nature. We should not love the devil because to love him is to embrace his nature.

We are made in the image and likeness of God. It is this that gives us human dignity, and the ability to love. Of course we should love each other, seeing in them the image of God, or the potential image of God. Especially as our love may change other humans’ nature for the better.

Then you’re giving Satan entirely too much credit. He is not ‘un-God’ – not a dualist embodiment of evil like Ahriman. He is a created being, an eternally prodigal child of God.

Is loving someone embracing his or her nature, really? There’s a lot of back and forth here about peoples’ children who are getting married outside the Church or to people of the same sex or whatever. One thing that is usually never questioned is whether or not the parent should love the child, no matter how much they may disobey what the parent thinks is right and good. If God is an all-loving Father as Christians claim, would he not still love Satan, even though the latter has chosen to place himself out of reach?

I’ll ask you the same question I asked another poster: if you are not called to love Satan, then are you called to hate him? Are you called to hate the souls in hell? How far up are you willing to go? To the point of hating people still on this earth you think are going to hell? If you start hating one entity, where do you stop?
