I understand that you are having a hard time going to confession.
That is pretty normal. Your feelings of guilt can be overwhelming. However, having been “devout” up till now, you must have a healthy concience. Your own Guardian Angel may be prodding you as well.

I hope you have Perpetual Adoration somewhere near you. I suggest you visit Jesus in an Adoration Chapel. Sit with him, talk to him about your sins and your temptations and the difficulty you are having. Thank him for the blood he shed on the cross for you. Jesus will never ever leave or abandon you. He will embrace you because it is what he came here to do, embrace us sinners.

Please remember this.

THE CHURCH IS NOT A SACTUARY FOR SAINTS, IT IS A HOSPITAL FOR SINNERS.

After so many months without ‘any’ Sacraments I’m so thankful our Lord and Saviour has seen fit to be so generous with His Church.

So much grace is received when we pray before the Blessed Sacrament, that it can’t be recommended enough.

OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!!!
 
Our heavenly father knows we are not perfect, and we will continue to sin, but we must remember He does not want us to give up. We will fall down and He will take us by the hand and bless us with the His greates gift to us. Confession, Penance, Reconcilliation.
What a smile we give to Him when we ask for His forgiveness, time after time after time.
He loves us and wants us to come to Him, Always.

I am having a hard time myself. I just came back to the Church going on 5 weeks now. I missed confession this past Sat and when I went to Church Sunday, I couldnt receive Communion.
I make Mass every Sunday now, but this past Sunday I really felt left out and a wretch because of not receiving the Eucharist.

It seems like you really need to go to confession every week or you cant receive the Eucharist.

I guess in my case, considering my potty mouth at times. Plus I cant seem to adhere to this Chastity vow because I am single. I basically live in Mortal sin.

I want so bad to be a good Christian, but I fall all the time. I pray and pray for help, but I still take the Lords name in vain and brake the 6th commanment with myself.

I feel lost all the time.

I’m in the exact same boat as you are. I just went back to church after being away for a year last week and I’m already back in mortal sin.

I’ll pray for you if you’ll pray for me.🙂
 
Jesus chose 12 apostles to be with him always…When he needed them the most, they ran away, all but one, St.John, his Mother, Mary, Mary Magdalene and a few other women remained with Jesus at his crucifixion…But you know the rest of the story, St.Peter and the others reconciled, and became truly martyrs for their faith in God.

God will welcome you home like the Prodigal son…He will run to greet you with open arms, just take that one step back to Him. Believe me, our priests have heard it all…God has heard it all! But He still loves you as much as the day you were formed in your mother’s womb. Come home! 👍

Our Human Nature: Habitual Sin leaves a very deep impression even after absolution the wounded nature clings to habitual sinfulness which is very difficult to triumph over due to it’s weakened state toward that sin.

The World: Our society (advertizing, dress, etc) presents many temptations which are meant to arouse a sexual response. The liberal availability of pornography presents a strong temptation to endless means of sating the pangs of our excessive desires once aroused.

Satan: This is His method and desire to draw us from a life of sanctity into a life dependent on the sating of our excessive desires through ever more sinful means (a continuing spiral of death).

You have to admit it is an ingenious trap for young men (and even older men) but we can’t allow our shame (which is actually a sin of pride) to draw us away from the only means of eventual relief from our unruly passions (The nourishment of God’s Graces through the Sacraments).

We each must, at least, know now that such is an escape but a cage. Each of us have fallen far into the depth of Habitual Sin, into the very lap of Satan and yet… Each of us has been brought once again to our knees before the Altar of All Graces in repentance through the Sacrament of Confession. Christ said “pickup your cross and follow me” but even He fell multiple times under it’s weight. DO NOT GIVE UP! DO NOT GIVE UP! Please let me repeat myself… DO NOT GIVE UP!

Christ offered us salvation, he never said we would look pretty receiving it! Even if we have to scrap and crawl to the very Gates of Heaven bloody and bruised ‘DO IT’! Even if only to spite Satan. If we are going to go to Hell, then let us go kicking and screaming for the Mercy of our Lord!!!

Once we have given over to this frame of mind, one that is not surrendering to our wounded and unruly passions we must make this our beachhead to once again take them back. This is Spiritual Warfare and it is what the Church Militant must do to gain intimacy in the Divine Nature and to encounter the Peace and Joy which comes from such intimacy.

We are a long way from such Victories, I well know but don’t let your current state of affairs ever deny the unending Hope which we as Christians have through the very promises of our Lord and Saviour.

I get everything you’re saying and you’re right, but it’s just so frustrating when your life is operating like one giant roulette wheel and you don’t know if you’re going to end up in the black or in the red when the end comes.

I think that everyone has sins that they repeat over and over again, be they mortal or venial. A priest told me to remember that you are never committing the same sin again, you are merely acting on a habit. It helps me to remember that. Also, meditating on the First, Second, and Third Falls of Christ serve to remind me to get up and continue on the Way. Christ fell that He might feel our pain and guilt. He got up and kept going, even when He knew that He would fall again, and/or be brutally nailed to the cross at the top. Also, remember, ultimately you are not going to confession to the priest, you are going to confession to Christ, who raises a loving hand over you with blood dripping from it to cleanse your soul. Christ already knows all of your sins. He wants to pick you up in His arms and carry you. Please, please let Him!!!
