Falling in love with the Latin Mass

I just want to say I went to the EF once and i needed to get used to it id never attended or seen it before, but just recently i have had a chance to go again and it was great…i mean AWESOME!!. I absoloutley love it… I definetly prefer it now to the OF but that dosent mean I dont love Mass period in both forms Mass is Mass and when both are done with reverence … Its great. I thank God for the opportunity to go.
my question is… should I invite my friends and family to see it (I’ve already invited my best friend) im trying to get my family to go with me. is this okay? And im not trying to force it on them I just want them to see it

Only thing I can suggest is perhaps learn what you can in order to answer any questions they may have. At least the basic stuff 🙂
 
Yes, invite them; but don’t be discouraged if you find some “nay sayers”. Keep a positive attitude and be cheerful. It takes a considerable re-education on the philosophy of the EF. Many folks don’t understand and can’t grasp that the Mass is a sacifice and not just a “meal”. Be patient and loving to those who don’t grasp the EF.

I have loved this Mass since I first came into the church in 1970. Yes, you could find one now & then.

What are the EF and the OF?

A small correction. I understand the OF is officially in its 2002 edition. This is, of course, the Latin which is the basis of the various translations.
 
I am glad you love the Latin Mass. I do also love it too, and go when I have a chance even though my closest chances are at least 1.5 hours drive 1 way for me so I will have to get in many chances before the unpredictable winter weather in my area comes near the end of the year.

I love the quiet and reverence of the Low Mass. I love the reverence and music of the Missa Cantata (Sung High Mass). I love the fact at both that people dress modestly and appropriately (for the most part), and when I veil for EF, no one looks at me strange.

Hello KaneKatholic, et al,

I started attending the Tridentine Mass, (EF), in 1994 and I have never looked back! It is enriching, fulfilling, comforting and so very pious. :heaven: I would lay down my life for it, (and my Faith in general for that matter- at least I hope I would have the courage/faith to do that). :heaven:

I should have said several hundred years ago. (They didn’t have two forms then, just the Latin Mass and they just called it Mass at the time (as opposed to Common Prayer.))
 
That’s great! Glad you enjoyed it and are willing to go back. Definitely invite people. You never know who will be next to fall in love with it. But don’t be discouraged if you encounter negative responses. People are used to a very different thing these days and often don’t understand what the fuss is about. The more you know about it more you will be able to educate them on why it matters to rediscover our tradition.

You can’t have one without the other, theres no point in having the form if priests can’t celebrate it and/or the faithful can’t assist at it.
 
Has anybody ever spoken with a priest who is resistant to the Latin Mass? Its real unfortunate that they are out there.

Yes. To a few. They all tend to say the same thing: no need for that these days, people are used to the vernacular + Latin is difficult, that would go against the spirit of V2, etc. Same old. There are so many out there with the same ideological bias 😦
