I’m not sure where it should go, so I put it here. Mods, please help me to put it in the right sub-forum if it’s inappropriate.

I just read on my facebook about our beloved Pope Francis and the third Vatican Council.
In a speech that shocked many, the Pope claimed “All religions are true, because they are true in the hearts of all those who believe in them. What other kind of truth is there? In the past, the church has been harsh on those it deemed morally wrong or sinful. Today, we no longer judge. Like a loving father, we never condemn our children. Our church is big enough for heterosexuals and homosexuals, for the pro-life and the pro-choice! For conservatives and liberals, even communists are welcome and have joined us. We all love and worship the same God.”
The whole website is strange, it seems they are writing their own news without sources. I just want to warn everyone here, in case you were asked about it.

So what false information have you heard about our Pope Francis?

I’ve heard a great deal of false things said about Pope Francis. And about Pope Benedict, as well.

The quote you cited is satire. It is fake news created for humorous purposes. The disclaimer on the blog’s website states this quite explicitly:
The original content on this blog is largely satirical.
“I ceased in the year 1764 to believe that one can convince one’s opponents with arguments printed in books. It is not to do that, therefore, that I have taken up my pen, but merely so as to annoy them, and to bestow strength and courage on those on our own side, and to make it known to the others that they have not convinced us.” – Georg Christoph Lichtenberg.
It is in the spirit of the above quote that I write. Who am I you may ask? My name is Erik Thorson. I created this blog for my own personal amusement.

People lie on Facebook? Facebook wouldn’t allow that, would they?

Afterall Internet is not making us smarter, how on earth people can believe there was a Third Vatican Council. I mean, this is not about being Catholic, it is basic history and being informed.

I shouldn’t be surprised as there are actually people convinced the world is controlled by Illuminati nonsense.

Pay no attention. I don’t care what the techie dweebs and academics say, the internet is NOT making our lives easier or making us smarter. The Misinformation Super Highway is a chum bucket of stupidity.

And to top it off, it IS controlled by the Illuminati under the auspices of the NSA for the purpose of distracting us from their real activity which is consolidation of political and economic power.

But let’s not let on that we know… shh

“Chum bucket of stupidity”! What an awesome line!!

But, I somewhat disagree assuming that people have enough sense to realize that cannot simply accept everything they read on the internet, or anywhere for that matter. The internet forces us to carefully discern reality through the layers of lies, half truths, slightly slanted reality and the actual truth. This is a process we all need to go through more as it helps us think more clearly about our positions. The problem is too many people arent patient enough or are too lazy to do a little investigating or lack the traditional education to know how to think critically and research properly.

But I would agree the internet is a “chum bucket of stupidity” for those who dont know any better!
