Hi,
is the spirit of the false prophet present in this realm in science?

I ask give the wonders of science worked before my eyes.

Most people i know will go to the doctor when they are sick and then to G-d when science cant help them.

I even know a pentacostal pastor who turned to science for help after his marrige break up.

If we are called to have G-d first in our lives should we seek Him first or last.

If we turn to science first have we not put our trust in it to show our future?

God is the Omniscient. Knowing all, knowledge is His to give or to keep. The increase in knowledge was promised in Daniel; we should be grateful for it. Both healing by the Holy Spirt and the science of medicine are blessings. In the Baha’i Writings I have found the following:

"Prayer is like the spirit and material means are like the human hand. The spirit operateth through the instrumentality of the hand. Although the one True God is the All-Provider, it is the earth which is the means to supply sustenance. . .

When man refuseth to use material means, he is like a thirsty one who seeketh to quench his thirst through means other than water or liquids. The Almighty Lord is the provider of water, and its maker, and hath decreed that it be used to quench man’s thirst…

Disease is of two kinds: material and spiritual. Take for instance, a cut hand; if you pray for the cut to be healed and do not stop its bleeding, you will not do much good; a material remedy is needed.

Sometimes if the nervous system is paralyzed through fear, a spiritual remedy is necessary. Madness, incurable otherwise, can be cured through prayer.

It often happens that sorrow makes one ill, this can be cured by spiritual means.

The power of the Holy Spirit healeth both physical and spiritual ailments."

science in itself is not evil but there are those who make science their god

the same way that there are many cults that are based on the Bible. you can’t say the Bible is the false teacher, but those who twist the message of the Bible are

science is not the false teacher. the knowledge of science comes from God. only those who think they are better than God because of this knowledge are the false teachers

There is no conflict between religion and science, or there should be no conflict.

Torah, Bible and the Quran are the words of God. The Science is the work of God. There cannot be any difference in the words of God and the works of God. Religions need not downplay the works (Discoveries) of Science.

Islam is not against Science.

It is not logical to say that God gave man intellect and reason and then to say that intellect and reason are evil or opposed to the ability to know and serve God.

As pointed out, the problem comes when men create a false division between God and science. All science wants to do is explain creation.

You are correct that science can become a false god. The big problem there is that unlike most false gods, science can actually DO things, like treat illnesses. For someone without the gift of faith, it is hard to counter

All good replies. Have a good weekend everyone. Peace and Harmony…

This is an interesting question, and my honest answer to this is a big resounding no 🙂

And oh no, I’m certainly no “humanist” rather, a “realist”. God is the author of all truth, both scientific and theological. When both are understood fully, and properly one can not contradict the other. In fact, when properly understood they complament one an other.

This said, it is most certainly true that some have made Science a false idol which they worship in place of God. I’ve heard many say “even if God exists, what do we need him for in today’s world?”. Truely, this reminds me of Psalm 14 sharply, not to mention the image of the Israelites, freshly free from Egypt, having crossed the Red Sea (not Read Sea) miraculasly building for them selves, Golden Calves at the foot of Mount Zion while they awaited the return of Moses.

Excellent answer crazzeto:

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:01)
**Religion and Science are intertwined with each other and cannot be separated. **(‘Abdu’l-Bahá in London, p. 28)

Therefore, all souls should consider it incumbent upon them to investigate reality. Reality is one; and when found, it will unify all mankind. Reality is the love of God. Reality is the knowledge of God. Reality is justice. Reality is the oneness or solidarity of mankind. Reality is international peace. Reality is the knowledge of verities. Reality unifies humanity. ~‘Abdu’l-Bahá, PUP, p. 372

For man two wings are necessary. One wing is physical power and material civilization; the other is spiritual power and divine civilization. With one wing only, flight is impossible.
Two wings are essential. Therefore, no matter how much material civilization advances, it cannot attain to perfection except through the uplift of spiritual civilization.
All the Prophets have come to promote divine bestowals, to found the spiritual civilization and teach the principles of morality. Therefore, we must strive with all our powers so that spiritual influences may gain the victory. For material forces have attacked mankind.
The world of humanity is submerged in a sea of materialism…The penetrative power of the divine bounty is not fully manifest. ~‘Abdu’l-Bahá, PUP, p. 12

I did not suggest science is the false prophet, but after reading these posts i am looking deeper.

I consider the false prophet may do many great and beneficial things for man.

I science i see G-ds grace, i also see much darkness. The heart men in giving a “benefit” of science dictates if science is for G-ds will or that of darkness.

Choy says this well
science in itself is not evil but there are those who make science their god
Who do we call on first?

There is no good that science does that is not able to be done by G-d.

If the G-d can raise the dead through the right and pious Yeshua (pbwh) my faith tells me Davids cut hand is no problem.

If G-d says, than it is.

No doubt for us who have too smaller faith His grace can be found in science.

While Crazeto offers some put scince first i would guess in moderised countries the likely would be many or even most. I myself have thought of science b4 G-d in medical matters, where i did not even give Him a chance.

If i say to people look this is wrong with me, most will say you should see the doctor about that my friend had it and he fixed it up fine. Should we not say we should pray about that?

The apostle Paul teaches any thing not for the glory of G-d is sin. In Islam we are taught our purpose is to worship G-d.

The watchers (Jews and Christians) Jinn (islam) that turned from G-d were the first teachers (Jews and Christains) of science to the women they married.

While they and their desendants were purged in the flood from this realm, their spiritual side is not drownable. (jews and Christains).

Bro Planten offers Islam is not against science and i think many of the world religions are for it. But in Islam and some Christians alcahol is not right for drinking. Science has had a large part to play in its processing to the product today. Our Islamic brothers have been unjustly slain thanks to science development of wepons.

I dont say stand against science, in Islam and Christain religions (unsure of Jews) we know the false prophet is to come and will be present for a time.

I do suggest we all see science in our lives not before G-d.

Grow a faith that reduces the reliance on science and brings us closer to the state our forfather Adam (pbuh) was created.

It’s true, science without moral imperitive makes frankenstein’s monsters; but religions without science can keep children from healing procedures, too. There needs to be a balance.
If Lazarus was only physically riased from the dead, so what? He would die again.
But if he was spiritually reborn, he is with God, body or no body.

Just as the Supreme Being itself cannot be proven, but can be accepted or rejected by the hearts, those Prophets of Manifestations of the divine Will can be believed or not, but cannot be disproven to hearts that know benefit and feel loyalty.
They will have their adherents and prove themselves on the world stage.
Progressive revelation of the divine Will has been and will be a continuous process.
