Wow…this thread kinda makes me sad. I had no idea about, well, most of this. I very much enjoy the SSPX church in my area. The only reason I don’t go there all the time is that my husband (a southern baptist) is doing well to attend a indult mass. lol
I really would never have guessed that these people don’t live in accordance with the church. I am always so impressed by their dedication, especially with regard to the women and their life long goal to emulate our Holy Mother. I’m jealous of these women whose families take up the whole pew, and their husbands are the leaders of their families. I love the Latin mass. I love that everything is so reverend, solemn, and it begs to be taken seriously. I also feel more like I’m there to “give” than to “get.”
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have any issues at all with the indult mass, I just really like both, and given the choice, I’d go to the Latin mass. I get irritated with all the liturgical abuse at my local Catholic Church, and I just really like the way none of that’s tollerated at the SSPX church.
So what exactly do these people do/believe that is contrary to law? They seem to be infinitely more dedicated and reverend than my indult peers…what in the world could they be doing that’s so bad? I don’t understand what they do that would cause them to be a schism.
In a way, I really respect the idea of resisting change. Tradition is important, and I could see why certain people would put their foot down about things getting to liberal…liberalism kinda sneakes in the back window that way. You have to shoot them while they’re still in the yard.
Should I not go to these masses?
Guess I’m naive.
