I don’t know why this is happening to my family and I, but my parents are in a giant mental block. They don’t understand the fact that there weren’t Baptists or Pentecostals before about 500 years ago. I constantly get into heated arguments with them over the history of Christianity. They won’t listen. My father is a conspiracy theorist, so it was only natural for him to say that Catholics ‘control the Internet’. He said the Catholic Church is evil, because he couldn’t find anything bad about it. I tried showing them history from multiple websites, but they didn’t let me. They’re both stuck in their faith, especially my father. He is a Baptist/Pentecostal pastor; a hypocrite one, at that. Apparently, he thinks the condemnation of astrology doesn’t have anything to do with ‘Zodiac Signs’. My whole immediate family is very superstitious about things like this, and all of them believe in Zodiac Signs. If I were to do something a ‘Pisces’ would do, they would classify me as a typical ‘Pisces’ and laugh a storm together. I just sit there and get angry over how they believe in something as idiotic as that. My mother has blind faith. If someone were to say that someone came ‘back to life’, she would instantly believe it. If I were to say I didn’t believe in that particular ‘miracle’, she would say I’m an ‘atheist’. It isn’t like I don’t believe in miracles, just that particular one. My mother and my father believe in God just to believe. They believe in God just because it says so ‘in the Bible’, or just because they were raised Christian. My father says, in arguments, that when he was in college, the professor taught against Catholicism. Mind you, this is Georgia, with thousands of Protestant churches. Dad didn’t think the professor’s conclusion wasn’t biased at all. From looking through different sources, it has come to me that Georgia has historically been anti-Catholic. You see, my father isn’t ‘racist’, per se, but ‘partial’, as is my mom. He would be the first to bring up that the Catholic Church is ‘European’. I don’t see how he can even speak that, since he’s a part of the denomination that refused to accept blacks into their churches. He fails to realize that the Catholic Church instantly accepted us, and had no partiality. They thought us as humans, as we all are; the human race. My mother seems to be slowly creeping into insanity. Her logic just totally disappears, sometimes, in arguments of any kind. It doesn’t help that she watched a lot of ‘reality’ television, which can warp peoples’ actual reality. My sisters are actually pretty open-minded about the whole ordeal, and I can confide in them when I can’t most else; my sisters, and you, that is. To tell the truth, I don’t know what to do, anymore. My parents don’t even view Catholics even as Christians.
