**So how’s everyone on here doing? Welcome to everyone who’s stopped by since I last posted. 😃 **

Well, we’re just about to become an ‘official’ family in a few weeks. It’s great to hear so many small families here, since we may be one, even though we’d like to have children. (We’ve been trying ahead of time, since frankly, I don’t have much time left on the clock of years, and we have always known we’d make it legit immediately if we were so fortunate…but the Big Deal Wedding is coming up like a tidal wave now! :o ).

Still, even if we can’t have bio kids, I do hope we can adopt. We both have a knack with children of all ages - in particular, Mirdath more with the tiny ones and maybe I do a surprisingly effective job with young teenagers (the older ones mostly need good counsel, and that we would strive to give). Those children between 5 and 11 sound just plain wonderful! No matter how rough life has been, or is or will be…oh how amazing it is, I remember so well.

But if we don’t have children by any means…well, then our lives will still be delightful. Who could not be joyous every day to be in the company of such as Mirdath? And I know us – in that case (or perhaps even if we do have children, if we have time) we shall devote ourselves to the community and its children if they will have us.

But we already are a family. Mirdath’s relatives have some problems, but they are minor compared to mine and my relatives, and far more supportive than the family I grew up in. They seem, (I so hope!), to have accepted me as one of their own even though I am a lifelong nontheist-secular with a Past (they’re hardcore conservative Catholic, as well as scholars and gentle people), and for that I am so grateful.

I’ll give a holler out there. DH and I were married in August of 2006, so just celebrated our one year:)

Nice to see some other families of two at different stages on the journey.

We are TTC, so please keep us in your prayers!

A family of two here too! It’s just DH and me for now, we married in March '06. We’re postponing children for now because we have some marital problems to resolve and some financial ones too. I have a job where I’m very unhappy, I’m going to school for a different path careerwise, and the religious differences play a big role in our decision to postpone for now. Religion is the biggest issue. The money isn’t too great of an issue, but when you can’t have enough hrs at work to have $$ to pay the bills, how can you afford to bring a child to this world? I need some time before we have one since I’m making sure our children will be raised Catholic and not JWs. If we were to get preggo, we’d be more than happy but I hope it’s when God thinks it’s the right time for the 2 of us.

I also want to get a job where I can get benefits to pay for the delivery, otherwise, my insurance will charge too much money. We really wanted me to be a SAHM but we purchased a home, so now that won’t be a possibility. 😦 I would hate to leave my baby with a stranger. I wanted to do ecological breastfeeding, but that seems like it won’t happen, again, because we bought a house to be able to begin a family and have a place of our own to raise our children. Unless Dh got a job that paid him both our wages in a month, then I could be a SAHM, but in CA, that’s not likely to happen.

**Ohh! So happy this thread got ressurected! YAY! 😃 **

**No problem at all. I wouldn’t say it if it weren’t true. You have touched so many souls on CAF. You are a blessing to us all! 🙂 **

Hi all, another family of two here! 😃

We were married in May, so it’s been almost 5 months for us! We are not officially TTC yet, but we’re not specifically avoiding either, so no telling how long we will be just the two of us. 😉 We’re just letting God do His thing and trusting that wherever He leads, He will provide. 👍

**Do I know you!?!?! :hmmm: **

Family of 2 here, also. Our children are grown and gone, so it’s us & 2 dogs. We see our kids pretty regularly, but it’s nice with just the 2 of us. It’s time to rekindle our romance!

Peace,
Linda

**Hello there! We also have two dogs…who are temporary fill in for “babies.” 😉 😛 😃 **

Just found this threat, what a great idea 🙂 Hubby and I are almost 5 months married, a family of 2 - with a cat we adopted recently! We are letting the decision to have children fall in God’s hands, though at this moment I think we are BOTH hoping bigtime that we conceive.
Just a little note here. My DH and I TTC for the first 8 months of our marriage. Finally, we gave up and just enjoyed each other and decided that it would happen whenever and that if 2 years went by after we got married that we would look into it. Well, we forgot about it and about a month later we conceived. Same happened to two friends of mine. They tried so hard and never worked and then they just forgot about it and suprise! They became pregnant! I don’t know if it has to do with some phsychological issues in which one is just thinking about TTC and we just don’t and when you least expect it that is when it happens. You really have to forget about it see if it works 👍

God Bless!

It’s been a little while since a post was made:) So my question for today is:

What are some fun, slightly different from the ordinary, ideas for a date night? Something creative (not too expensive).

Also, if you feel like sharing your personal favorite date thus far:)

**We take walks in our local park. Its pretty with a small lake and trails and everything.

If its too hot, or rainy, we’ll just walk through target, walmart or some other store and point out all the things we might like to get IF we had the money. ;)😛

We also make dates out of EVERYTHING. We make a date out of walking the dogs for their evening poo, we make a date out of going to hubby’s work after hours and me sitting quietly reading while he works his butt off. We make a date out of getting the car repaired…guaranteed three hour date right there! 😃

Just spending time together wherever your life takes you, inviting the other along whenever possible, so that you can have that together time. It might not be “romantic” by definition, but being with the one you love is romantic in and of itself, even in the car repair place, even in walmart! ;)😛

Don’t forget home dates. Make a game night together. Watch a movie you both like, or even “settle” for one of his to get that extra time together. Clean together, work together, eat meals together, pray together. And don’t forget plain and simple cuddle time together. That’s always my favorite! 😃

You can really make a “date” of anything. When you are pressed for time or cash (and we are both) you just have to MAKE it happen in the most creative of ways (even if it might not make a book or magazine.)

Convert 99,

I think you idea of finding “date” night in multiple ways is a great idea. And just b/c you don’t go somewhere doesn’t mean it’s not a date!

I am starting this thread for all families of two. 😃 This is not an infertility thread. This thread is, rather, for all those married couples who make up their entire family, for whatever reason. This could be a permanent, or temporary place in your married life.

Are you a family of two? Please tell us about yourself!

Examples of Families of two include:

Newlyweds, who have not yet conceived.

Couples who have had serious reasons to postpone having children through Natural Family Planning, and who do not yet have children of their own.

Couples suffering infertility troubles who have not been able to have children of their own, or have not been able to adopt their families.

Couples whose grown children have left the house, and are now living alone.
waves

Yup, that would be us.

PS: We used to belong to a group for couples who didn’t have kids, but it turned out to be more of a we-hate-kids-and-think-no-one-should-have-any deal.

We don’t hate kids. We just don’t have any. There’s a big difference.

I guess myself and my DH count as a family of two. 🙂 We’ve yet to conceive and are more postponing than trying to conceive. However, if the Good Lord decides it’s time to give us the “next generation” (as DH lovingly calls kids) - so be it! We both are full-time college students and work as student work-studies. I graduate in May 2008 with a B.S. in Geology (and a minor in Anthropology).

DH has a B.A. in History and three minors in the ‘hard sciences’ and currently works with bugs and plants doing research. He’s taking some Computer Science classes to help diversify his abilities.

For our dates, we both like to play video-games so we get out one of the games that we can both play, usually as a team. We’ll also do ‘study dates’ where we drag all of our stuff out to the kitchen table and do homework. He’ll also help me with various Anthropology research that I have to do, usually by sitting in the library for long amounts of time while I freak out about reading long journal articles. He also comes with me to various Anthropology related functions or Geology seminars. I try and give him lots of cuddles and snuggles, especially at night when he’s tired and needing to relax from the day. We also watch movies on the computer, which gives us required cuddle time than if we watched them on the TV - watching a small screen means you’re going to get close! 👍

We both teach pre-school Religious Education and so planning our upcoming lesson is a date, going through the questions for the Bible study through our parish is a date … it’s kind of endless. I guess we’re like Convert in 99, and make everything we can a date.

So that’s us! It’s been fun reading about the other ‘families of two’ that are here! 😃
