"Families That Pray Together..." (What One Woman Has to Say)

Really? Families used to pray together more. I know in my parents’ time, it’s my understanding the families used to get on their knees together, nightly, to pray the rosary. I’m not sure how many generations that’s been going on. It’s a shame many in our time have done away with this tradition. We need prayer more now than ever!

However, very few families today will do this.
 
Thanks for this article. Although short, I felt that the woman introduced praying in family in a very powerful and creative way.

Yes, I am one of those old enough to remember the early days of Father Patrick Peyton’s ‘Rosary Crusade’ and the catchphrase of ‘The family that prays together, stays together’.

My father was in the British Army and we were in Singapore, and it was around the beginning of the 1950s.

As you intimate, we need prayer more than ever, but regrettably, here in the UK anyway, family prayer and prayer in general has seen a steep decline.

One shocking piece of news I heard on the television recently was that there are now only around 4 million ‘traditional’ type families [married parents together with their children under the same roof] in the UK - that in a country with a population of around 72 million.
