my 2nd prayer request in one day. but this one is concerning my in-laws. my wife’s sister’s husband (Paul) is a unique individual. he’s had a checkered past as far as his parents are concerned and that past has affected his emotional state of mind during trying times. he tends to lash out at people when things are tough and it causes a domino affect thru out the family.

well, for years the family (before i came along) have done nothing about the lashing out and let it continue. after it’s all done, he usually realizes what he’s done and profusely apologizes to the family as a whole, not necessarily the specific individual he hurt. but the damage has been done and even though he has apologized, there hasn’t been a true forgiving spirit from the family.

after many years of this occuring, the family doesn’t want anything to do with Paul for the most part and in a way that is tearing the family apart. now when holidays come around, my wife and i have to make more than one trip becasue we don’t see the entire family anymore.

so a recent not-so-good event has happened, but the door has opened for me to express my concern thru God’s words. i haven’t been negative to Paul, but i have pointed out that we need to love one another as God commands us to. Paul has his problems with the family as well and hasn’t forgiven certain individuals too. so i pointed out that if we can’t forgive others, how can we expect God to forgive us. i also said, we ALL need to work on that part of lives (among many other things) and he seemed to understand where i was coming from.

please pray that the family will finally step up and set up some sort of meeting to discuss issues and clear the air. also pray that things go as smoothly as possible. this situation has really uspet my wife because she such an angel and wants everybody to get along. i can’t stand seeing her hurt by all this.

You think it is a desperate situtaion,well,it is not. We need to know that we can’t please everyone,and there is no use in trying,things will go from bad to worst if we do. No,let us love,and we will recieve love,forgive,and we will be forgiven. What we can’t forget is another thing,and I can say from the bottom of my heart,I don’t understand how we can forgive but not forget.

Praying that peace and love will reign in the hearts of this family and that the difficult family issues will be discussed openly, respectfully and lovingly…and that all will voice their concerns, needs, and hopes and will be understood. Amen.
 
Loving God, in Jesus’ name, I offer You this family, our community. As we assist and encourage each other, please bring us into the ministry, and relationship that You desire.

Free us from antagonism, intolerance and unforgiveness that might separate one from another. Continually flood Your love through our family and our community.

Grant that we grow in mutual service and unity through the perfect love of the heavenly Family. Thank You, our God.
