i posted this a few days ago under Miscellaneous with no responses forthcoming. I thought I’d try again here as it pertains to Family Life.

We are beginning a new Family Life apostolate in several parishes in our archdiocese. It is not an archdiocesan ministry but will operate with their approval and support. Our main objective is to promote the family as the domestic church.

Anyway, the first thing we are trying to do in our parish is clean up the lobbies and literature racks. We’ve gotten rid of dozens and dozens of pamphlets – some extremely topic specific – and want to replace all of them with just a few at a time related specifically to things that will help further our mission to educate and enrich family life.

As I am in charge of choosing and ordering literature (with the pastor’s approval, of course), I am asking you, my dear Catholic friends, for any recommendations for appropriate pamphlets you think would be beneficial to our family-oriented mission. Is there one you particularly like or find helpful? If so, please tell me about it and where it can be ordered.

As others might find this useful, please post your responses under this thread.

Thanks!!!

Susie

Natural Family Planning would be a good one to put out. Many Catholics don’t know about this and should be given the opportunity to at least look into its possiblities.

You might want to look into the Holy Family Institute - www.vocations-holyfamily.com
It’s a really great, church-approved branch of the Pauline family that offers the merits of the consecrated state to married and widowed people as well as on-going training in spirituality in general and personal guidance along the way. I’m sure that Father Tom would be more than happy to supply you with literature explaining the Institute and it’s benefits for the family.

God bless your efforts!

I would like to suggest having pamphlets for Marriage Encounter out. This is a great weekend seminar that is offered in most areas, and has literally SAVED some marriages of people I know personally.

If you could find the resources to start Familia ( an acronym for family life in America. www.familiausa.net in your parish, you would have several people who are reading the Theology of the Body and getting some catechism to boot.
This would enable more people in your parish to really have an impact on the parish and the neighborhood. At least it has worked that way with my team.

As to pamphlets, don’t forget to be sure to find Rosary intructions. Other devotions would be nice – say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

God bless you on your endeavor.
