Nine teenyear old Jessica Langrell is well known as one of the rising young leaders of the Sydney archdiocese Australia. A philosophy and theology student at the university of Notre Dame, Sydney, Jessica has not only taken over the running of the hugely popularTheology on tap from its founder- her brother Patrick - but she is also one of the forces behind RISE Australia - RISE meaning (Restoring Integrity and Sexual Ethics)
AT the first RISE Australia conference held last month, Jessica - Who is one of the founding members of the new movment - joined 50 young people from across Australia to discuss ways to restore Love, Truth and sexual integrity in human relationships.
RISE is part of a groundswell movement amoung young people fed up with casual sex and meaningless relationships
American David Sloan founder of Thrive and Singles Serving Orphans told the conference about the years when he was desperate, homeless, on drugs and in and out of prison.What saved him he said was discovering God and his decision to become a Catholic.
Realising no one was teaching young Catholics about the importance of chastity, Dave made this his mission." This was before the Theology of the Body movement and I figured if no one was doing it, I’d be better than nothing" he told the conference
Jessica was among those who gave personal testimonies on her views on family, its importance and why she has chosen not to indulge in casual or meaningless sex but remain a virgin until after she marries.
Many young people are fed up with our over sexualised culture she told the conference.
