Greetings all,

Would anyone like to share their family traditions to commemorate a person’s baptism? My wife’s baptism birthday is today, and I need some ideas. Thanks!

I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. I’ve heard of people in other countries celebrating name days instead of birthdays, but not baptism anniversaries.

Really? In my experience, a special baptism candle is usually given to the person being baptized with a suggestion to light it annually as a memorial.

Maybe this is not a “traditional” Catholic practice. 🤷

We celebrate the anniversary of our children’s Baptism. It’s not something either my wife or I did growing up, but something we decided we wanted to do for our kids.

We don’t do anything elaborate. Mostly it consists of extra prayers for the person, special/favorite meals/dessert and a small gift or two.

We do this for our daughter’s baptism anniversary. We have a “feast” consisting of her favorite dishes, light her baptism candle, show her pictures from her baptism and say special prayers to St Francesca of Rome (the saint she was named after). We finish it off with her favorite dessert. You might do something similar for your wife, in a more grown up way, of course.

We do a special dessert and dinner, light the candle, and say some prayers. Simple but fun. 👍
